I think the best thing for me is to get a job and move out.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes. It is 3rd option for me personally after what I currently do and my backup of accounting.

I think it could be a good fit for you

What's your opinion on the profession
You'll get fatter.

But seriously, thinking about it too. If you went really hard, think team driving you can make good bank..

Ultimately you have to become an owner/operator to make the real bucks.

I know a guy who did it for several years. Eventually he had three kids and couldn't be on the road all the time, but he missed it.

There are different driver jobs, some take into account things like days away from your home base.

First off, Yellow was always a mess. They kicked major issues down the road and left it for future leadership to deal with. Ultimately, they are paying the price now. Their mismanagement isn't a reflection on the industry as a whole.

The industry is not going away anytime soon. It is vital to the success of American commerce. The freight companies have a lot of issues but the main one is finding drivers. There is and will be a huge shortage of drivers on long haul, regional and local routes. Wages and benefits are only going to go up as the demand for drivers become desperate. The driver has never had so much leverage over the freight companies which makes now is a good time to get into the market.

Depending on what you do, it's not an easy life. It'll take you away from home for long stretches or consistent stretches of time which makes it hard to develop and maintain a family. For a single person, I can see the appeal. If you are a family man, it can get very tough being on the road as much as you are. You will sacrifice time with your kids as a result of your work.

I have done a ton of mortgages for Truckers, honestly they dnt make 100k+ often from what I see. If yu are W2, you can make 80k, but if they 1099 you and you are responsible for your own fuel and truck, sure they gross 180k in revenue, but often net only 30-50k. Its actually a rip off and John Oliver did a show about it.

Just from what I see, obviously I havent done a loan for every trucker in every situation, but a have done loans for a few dozen truckers and seen their tax returns and W2's.

I’ve wondered this about AZ. Not really a hub, not really close enough to another large city to make runs.

Makes sense.

I do loans across the nation, its not just AZ, in fact i do very few AZ loans.

Across the nation truckers really dont make money. Not saying none do, but the shipping companies have ruined the business and exploited the truckers. 1099 trucking is a scam and most truckers are not good at being self employed. I see their taxes, they could make more money being a greeter at Walmart for the hours they put in.

I think truckers do fine in Alaska..
