Just watched his Gruden camp video on Youtube in preparation for Sunday. It's going to be exciting to see him play a full game, and I think Shanahan will put him in positions to succeed with his skill set.

This is weird. Either Pettine didn't follow through on his statement that he was going to tell the QB's "in a few hours" who was starting, or he told them but put a Twitter embargo on the decision.

In any case, the designed rollout was our most consistent "go-to" play when nothing else was working, and that -- along with the read-option -- are the two types of plays that Manziel likely would have been proficient at from almost day one. It should be interesting to see how well-prepared for that CIncy is given that it's not easy to prepare for a QB you really haven't seen much of in the first place.

I don't think so, but it's impossible that the decision wouldn't leak from one of the players before Sunday anyway, so better just to put it out there as soon as the decision is made.

I suppose it will come out on Wednesday, because whomever is starting will be getting the snaps, and there'll be no way to keep the entire team quiet. Maybe Pettine is just going for every possible edge by giving the Bengals less time to prepare.

I'm glad as hell for the change, though I have no confidence (or even lack of confidence) in Manziel. To me, it's just that Hoyer failed, so you have to go "next man up".
