JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Any idea what's up with them putting their hand on their lower back after they hit a 3? I saw JR and Kyrie do it after they both hit a 3 and when I first saw Kyrie do it I thought he might have hurt his lower back. Does it have a meaning or is it just the thing they do?

The NBA's 2014-2015 top 8 three point FGs made leaders:
How many three point FGs they've made and their shooting percentages over their last 8 games respectively:

1. Wes Matthews: 24 (38%)
2. Kyle Korver: 25 (61%)
3. Klay Thompson: 33 (52%)
4. Seth Curry: 25 (43%)
5. James Harden: 28 (50%)
6. Damian Lillard: 19 (30%)
7. JJ Redick: 22 (51%)
8. Danny Green: 18 (39%)

JR Smith: 29 (42%)

Kyle Korver is crazy. His pure shooting ability is amazing.

We'll see if Blatt has learned anything yet.

There is no way JR should come out of the starting lineup with the way this team is playing.

They are scoring at will, the energy is great, and the defense is much improved.

And, JR is playing efficiently.

Here's the thing though, you ideally want jr's scoring coming off the bench. Shumpert, delly, Tt, Marion are not exactly prolific scorers. The question is do you wait to move jr to bench when he cools or do u start shumpert asap to build starting lineup chemistry

Maybe referencing a back-breaking three pointer?

Gotta give Shumpert a little time to gets his legs back under him and get a rhythm with his new teammates. He missed a full month, so his conditioning could be an issue for a week or two. You only move him into the starting lineup when he's ready to fully assume his real role on the team.

Why do we still bring up the Waiters person? Our Pipes is +33 once again filling up the stat sheet and Mr. "I'm actually you know" is -17 and 8 points for 8 shots tonight. He's probably never gonna flourish in any team outside San Antonio.

Fucking OLD man! This isn't the Waiters thread!

ding ding ding. 9 games is nothing.

the narrative with jr all along has been that he is an immature headcase with a propensity to chuck like crazy. both of those aspects are still huge question marks, especially as the season moves along and guys like love are (hopefully) better integrated into the offense. he needs to be able to handle less shots when it's just not falling - like against utah when he couldn't hit anything from 3 but still took 11. he isn't going to be able to take, 15-20 shots per game night in and night out. how he responds to that is the million dollar question. if he's mature about it, has strict discipline, and totally buys into the team-first mentality he and the cavs will flourish. if he doesn't, we can have problems. thus far the good has definitely outweighed the bad, but again lets see how things progress because in his career the opposite has been the case.

for better or for worse, he is a gunner. what's vital is controlling that urge when it's just not working. although, i went to the game last monday and i will say it was flat out exciting as hell any time the ball was sent his way behind the arc. granted, it did help that he happened to be hot on that night but still - electrifying.

I know everyone wants to move JR to the bench but keeping him in the starting lineup is likely the best way to keep the chucker contained. With Kyrie, Love, and particularly Lebron, these guys have the authority and cred to make sure JR keeps a lid on going crazy. If he goes to the bench and gets a greenlight to score I think his base tendencies may tend to come out more.

I agree. He hasn't looked good when trying to create his own shot (usually resulting in a difficult step back fadeaway). He's likely to be much more effective in the starting unit. JR would still probably score more ppg than Shumpert though, even off the bench. Plus it'd be nice to be able to put Shumpert on the best opposing perimeter player if he really is a big defensive upgrade. There are pros and cons to JR starting or being 6th man so I don't really care much either way.

I disagree. When Shumpert is ready physically, he starts. The bench still isn't scoring well at all, and the starters are playing a TON of minutes as a result. I'd rather have JR to build on leads that the starters get, or at least hold them. I don't like watching leads blead because nobody can score if LeBron/Kyrie are sitting. JR adds that extra weapon to stagger the offense.

You're worried about tweaking a bench when the best this team has looked has been the last four games with Smith starting...

You'll have time to see if Shrump is the better fit to start, but to simply
Insert him when this team is gaining steam is stupidity.

I don't think it's remotely stupid to try and improve a bench that regularly scores 10-13 ppg, and forces the starters to play too many minutes. As if moving JR to the bench will make everything fall apart.

I don't agree with messing with chemistry when a team is clicking. If he cools off or Srump seamlessly moves in and the team maintains it's current energy? So be it.

But to do it right now just because of a fixed idea? No.
