Love/Wiggins Trade Revisited

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Seriously, this is just unsubstantiated drivel that belongs on CavFanatic.

Either bring something conducive to the thread or do us a favor and avoid the reply button.

And like clockwork, qaws marks your post with an "Old" rep, the only option he has now that 'Dumb' is gone.

Does this every time somebody posts something he doesn't like.

Dude's hilarious. :chuckle:

In fairness, this could end up being a poor trade - anyone would have to admit that. Worst trade ever? Well, that's gross exaggeration to "over make" a point.

I completely agree that Love's situation (and I think he has also played hurt) makes any type of true evaluation of his performance so far a stretch. We have seen glimpses of what he can really do when Kyrie and Lebron were out. He is a freakish offensive talent who can score a number of ways, pass very well, and rebound (both offensively and defensively) very well. To call a rebounder of that caliber "soft" is silly at best.

The Cavs did the right thing trading for him given their circumstance. Other circumstances have led to him, so far, not being able to show what he can really do.

Whether it is judged a good or bad trade in the coming years has a lot to do with Wiggins. If he turns out to be the second coming of Jordan, or even of a Dwayne Wade, it will be judged by that standard. Etc, etc.

But really, who cares. It doesn't matter now. I'm just hoping the staff, Lebron, Kyrie can figure better ways to use his huge offensive skills. Because if you don't do that, it becomes easier to focus on his negatives - which all players have.

Even then, not necessarily. That then leaves a large cap space to add someone else, and you know Gilbert would have no problem doing it. Might even be a better fit.

is 18 amd 10 with a bunch of negatives worth a max contract...was it worth Wiggins a pending megastar?

I am beyond confused with how people are obsessing over how well Wiggins has played for the past month or so. When Kevin was in Minnesota his unbelievable stats were considered empty because they came on a team that had a record right around .500.

On the other hand Wiggins puts up a solid month and we have people on here saying we should've never traded him even though his stats are coming from a 7-32 team. How are his statistics not empty? I have no doubt Wiggins will be a very good player but he is nowhere near where love is right now and probably wont be for a couple of years.

I didn't know whether to dislike it or to post as funny. I went with Dislike.

People who are talking about trading kevin love are crazy. I have been avoiding RCF for a couple of games because of them. He is "playing bad" and is averaging 18 & 10 with a Strong TS%. All with a new team, new system, rookie coach, and getting the 4th amount of shots (before Dion trade)

And we just got 2 players who can throw an entry pass to the post. Before Smith and Shump the only person that would/could do post passes regularly to Love was Miller.

It was the exact trade thrown around (and disliked) by 92.3 yesterday.

I still don't get why people are giving Wiggins no blame whatsoever for the Wolves' record, as a means of ragging on the Cavs for the trade.

I know you don't post a lot, however, great comment. Please do so more frequently.

Because Wiggins is a rookie.

But, even if he is the next LeBron (which he's not), he's going to need a hell of a lot more help than Kevin Love ever got in Minnesota to make the playoffs.

Love's stats weren't empty because of Minnesota's record; they were empty because they didn't represent his net production towards a win. In other words, his defense was so bad, that him piling on points and grabbing rebounds by forgoing simple defensive principles like putting your hands up and contesting shots is not a net positive to the box score.

I talked about this point in the trade thread.
Pelton touched on this point, but avoided it entirely.
I also pointed out that Love is on record focusing a great deal of his attention on individual stats. "I had a great game," after "putting up 25/12," even though the Wolves lost.

Look, I don't want to knock Love, but let's not beat around the bush about his deficiencies.

Not even bothering to read a single post in this thread.

Any attempt to grade/evaluate/frame this trade a a half season in is completely pointless. As pointless and pointless can get. 0.0

You can maybe begin to grade this 1.5 seasons in.

No one should need an explanation as to the many reasons why.

Harsh and hard line perhaps, but I stand behind it 100%

MirORich, I totally disagree with this stance.

Trading Wiggins for Love is not such a no-brainer move as to be above debate or reproach.

There's no need to stifle conversation.
