Manny Harris

Re: Manny Harris signed to second 10-day contract

Byron is a fucking tease. Almost thought Manny was going to stay in for awhile.

Re: Manny Harris signed to second 10-day contract

Looks like Manny's been cut loose.

The Cavaliers informed shooting guard Manny Harris that they were not resigning him after his second 10-day contract expired on Sunday. The club wants roster flexibility heading into the trade deadline. They have 14 players on their roster. Harris appeared in just three games during his 20-day stay with the club. He is now a free agent. Harris is not immediately returning to the Canton Charge, he said, as he wants to see what transpires at the deadline. The Cavs could resign him, but the contract would have to be guaranteed for the remainder of the season. Cleveland Plain Dealer

This is one instance in which I hope a team signs him, and he helps lead them to the playoffs. He got nothing but the shaft when he was here.

IMO, this was the plan all along.

The Cavs knew they wanted roster flexibility heading into the deadline, but also knew they liked what they were seeing from Manny.

Easiest solution?

A) Pick up Manny from the Charge so he's under contract for 20 days

B) Knowing they wanted roster flexibility & knowing they wouldn't keep him for the season (this time around), purposely keep him on the bench so no other teams could see whether what he was doing would transfer back to his play at the NBA level

C) Not pick him up for the rest of the season & let him go close to the deadline, when teams will be mostly just concentrated on talking with other teams.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if he's back here if we still have a roster spot open after Thursday.

I know they love Parker, but Jesus he needs cut loose. His legs aren't there anymore and it is obvious when you look at how he is shooting. He can't hit anything and he cannot stay in front of his man. He is an above average defender and his positioning is as good as any guard we have, but he is too damn slow. He is not aggressive enough on O or D because of this.

I saw Manny out there for his short stint. He looked great closing out to the perimeter on help, which is great because Parker can no longer help and recover to the perimeter. Manny did not know exactly where to be during offensive sets, and he was indecisive with the ball. Otherwise I thought he looked good, and those 2 things can be fixed with Playing time. Seriously, we should be playing parker at the 3 only. It is driving me a little crazy.

If they think Manny is too dumb or something, ok. I guess it is hard to give him minutes when the team is winning, but I think he could really fit pretty well especially in the more athletic lineups.

Question: would you rather have a an extra roster spot to help fascilitate a trade for another young, core player and/or a draft pick? Or hang onto Manny Harris for another few weeks.

Answer: Manny Harris isn't leading a team to Hungry Hungry Tacos, let alone a playoff birth.

No team is picking up an extra roster spot this week. At least no team looking to be active during the deadline.

Agreed if they had picked up Manny 3rd 10 day option they would have had to guarantee him a roster spot for the rest of the season

they made the smart move

On a related note , I read that the Cavs realize Parker is done and regret signing him . Word has it he won't be back next year

if sessions gets moved by Thursday, I think Manny will be back and see more playing time . . . that is unless we pick up a young wing

Re: Manny Harris signed to second 10-day contract

Per Jason Lloyd and Tom Reed, the Cavs will waive Jason Kapono and sign Manny for the rest of the season.

Once again, Gilbert's checkbook allows the Cavs to make a roster move with the future in mind. Cavs end up paying around 1/3 of Kapono's salary, and sign Harris to see whether or not he can offer anything for the future.

Re: Manny Harris to be signed again (Kapono to be waived)

Glad that we will see some young guys instead of what we traded for.

Re: Manny Harris to be signed again (Kapono to be waived)

That's great to hear. I'd like to see Manny get a real chance to play to finally see how well his improved shooting in the D league translates to the NBA. Now that Sessions is gone, maybe he'll crack the rotation.

Re: Manny Harris to be signed again (Kapono to be waived)

I was hoping Kapono would replace Casspi...

Re: Manny Harris to be signed again (Kapono to be waived)

How about playing Manny the rest of the way?

buyout Parker...

I'd love it. Parker can't move very well anymore.
