MLB - Trade Rumors and Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Uhh...right.

Are you thinking of Taillon?

Taillon would work too.

I haven't followed Allie's career too closely this year. I knew he was struggling, but didn't think they'd give up on him this early.

Bats? Pitchers?

They aren't going to give up either of their two best pitchers (Taillon, Cole) for Choo.

But the guy who comes to mind is Starling Marte, whom they just called up, who could be an interesting trade chip AND make an immediate impact on the Indians.

Other guys who I like:

OF Alex Dickerson - .286/8/72/.782 at High-A (22)
OF Gregory Polanco - .323/13/70/.904 with 39 SB at Low A (20)
1B/DH Matt Curry - .306/7/49/.879 at Double-A (24)
OF Quincy Latimore - .241/12/49/.746 at Double-A (23)
3B Erik Avila - .291/3/13/.823 at Low-A (22)
2B/SS/3B Alen Hanson - .318/15/50/.932 with 29 SB at Low-A (19)

The pitching, outside of Taillon and Cole isn't all that impressive. A few guys in Low-A who are OK.

I think any deal with the Pirates centers around hitting.

I really like Josh Bell, you think he will recover from knee surgery?

Seemed like 5 tool player before he got hurt.

So indicative of the Pirates luck, they spent a shit ton on him.

But yeah, he's an assload of potential.

The Pirates have a pretty deep system, not quite up there with elite teams like Texas. But certainly up there.

I think in about ten years, we'll look at this years Texas draft class to be one of the best in history. They got some absolute STUDS, their Arizona league team could compete in A-Ball right now.

This is just me throwing shit at the wall, not an actual rumor... but I wouldn't mind seeing us shop Perez to the Angels for a package centered around CJ Cron. First base prospect with serious power. 6'4 235 lbs right handed bat tearing up AAA at age 22. Doesn't draw walks for shit but only 49 K's in over 400 AB's.

I know the Angels bullpen was garbage earlier this year with Walden closing games. I know Frieri has been solid, but who knows maybe they'd like an established closer.

Cron is in the High-A Cal League. Not AAA.

Not that I don't like Cron, I do...I'm just sayin.

Yea my mistake, I saw his team was (IN), and immediately thought Indianapolis, which is AAA... but not for the Angels, lol. Turns out he plays for Inland Empire, an actual Angels affiliate.

Marte is a superstar potential player.

He's Andrew McCutchen II....And I'm not exaggerating a bit.

Good raw power, good speed, can play the OF well and cover ground.

I do that deal in a minute.

I'd even do it straight up, Choo for Marte.

I would do that swap too.

Heck, throw in something else to get another prospect.

I'm not so sure about trading Choo for Marte straight up. I would say look Pittsburgh, want to make the playoffs for the first time in 100 years? We'll give you our proven commodity, but you gotta give us more than just one question mark. Albeit a really solid prospect.

Marte hit his first major league pitch for a HR tonight.

I would love to get him...I do like the Cutch V2 comparison as well.

I mean you're basically swapping leadoff hitters.

You're giving up about 100 OPS points for the rest of this year in order to retain what will be a better player for six more years.

I'm taking that all day, but I don't think the Pirates would ever do it.

Do we do a Choo for Marte trade after a game like this? I don't want to judge from just this one game...but when you have over 34,000 at the game tonight, I don't think trading Choo would go over well.

I mean, they can't sell right now....

This is all purely speculation.

True, just a thought.

If we do add pitching...I really cannot think of any decent guys who we can add at a good price.

Liriano? Vargas?
