Liked it for the novelty. If this is true, it would take an evil genius to pull this off. Who plans a trade like that 6 months earlier? I think they just used the Cavs pic because that was his best years, ultimately to remind Wolves fans of how good he was and still could be. Add the fact that putting LeBron there would have at least added more hits even if just a little.
Since he was a newly signed player they would have had to have waited until December 15 to trade him. You could be correct though.

Plausible. But what's the best thing the Wolves' can get out of this ploy? I really don't get personnel movement that much.

Anything is better than nothing at this point for the Wolves. Plus Rubio is coming back Monday, and Kevin Martin just returned last week. In other words, Mo is a bit more expendable now considering the Wolves will want Shabazz and Lavine to continue to develop.

They could get a second rounder. Or maybe this was always a part of the original Love for Wiggins agreement, kinda like what the Cavs had with Boozer before he bolted for Utah. Haywood and Harris for Mo also works in the trade machine (link).

Do you know how ridiculous this sounds from the Cavs perspective when they could have just signed Mo as a free agent themselves...

:chuckle: Cleveland fans are so battered we've now invented sports misery that never even happened.

I'm still suffering from Basketball PTSD with Mike Brown's coaching in the Orlando series.

As has been mentioned in some of the various threads, I wouldn't mind at all if the Cavs waited to see if Mo is bought out by the T-Wolves. By the All-Star Break, the Wolves will have paid him 2/3 of his salary and will still owe him $1.25M. If Mo is willing to accept some fraction of that money, then perhaps this could happen. It's hard to see why the Cavs would want to give up much in a trade and hard to see how the Wolves could convince another team to give up that much for him. It's unlikely (and impossible in most cases) that anyone could claim him on waivers.

Perhaps this is all because I would prefer to see a backup for Mozgov added first, though I realize that's for another thread.

We used all of our cap space.

And no Mo Williams thread is complete without his Fog Raw rap! Bring Fog Raw back!!

Not if they wanted to have Mo and also had Miller, Jones, Marion and it was thought at least at the time, Ray Allen. (link)

If we picked up Mo, it would feel a lot like the '07 Indians when they brought back Lofton for a playoff run!

Hopefully this would end a little better.

As long as Skinner sends Mo around third rather than hold him up we'll be good

Love Mo but we don't need him.

If a backup PG is required, Jordan Farmar is available. Farmar is not only younger he also has prior experience with Blatt.

And farmar has won championships.

Are people serious about worrying if Mo is still super "unclutch" in the playoffs?

The difference about these teams is that Mo was our SECOND option back in 2010. If he didn't show up, then everything was on LeBron. Now, he wouldn't even start or be the first guy off the bench. You people are hilarious if you'd rather have Delly over Mo Williams for a playoff run this year.

Now I know getting him might not be realistic with our assets, but the number of people that prefer Delly are giving me a headache.

I'd say Jamison was the second option in 2010 over Mo. He took more shots anyway. Shaq was also on that team and in his limited minutes was often a focus of the offense.

In the 2009 playoffs, I agree that Mo was clearly the second option. We saw how that worked out, but as others have said he would have a much smaller role on this year's team.

By the way, that's not to say that Mo was the second best player on the 2009 team. I'd say Varejao and Delonte were both better players.

Can anyone photoshop Mo in a Cavs jersey, preferably standing next to lebron, if thats at all possible?
