..are you genuiinely under the impression that I dont know that we lost 4-2? and are unaware that 'might have been', in the english language, is a phrase commonly used to more accurately describe an event than a flat number like 4-2 and give better context? and doesnt always mean 'it might have been, but didnt hapen that way?'
anyways, if your argument to all that I posted is based on semantics, and shitty ones that youre not grasping, you should probably not have it.
My argument would be that - even without our 2nd and 3rd best players - we were 2 wins away from a championship in our first year together as a new team. We were not starting this off-season from a place of needing huge overhaul.
When you take into account the benefits of a year together under our belt (improved chemistry between players and coaches, young guys got a helluva experience of what playoff basketball is all about, all the more likely we add more complicated wrinkles to both our offensive and defensive schemes), we should already have a lot going for us.
But on top of that we are likely to bring back our entire rotation (barring very surprising news about TT, Delly or JR), which alone will be the deepest we've been as this team (considering we've never had Andy on the active roster while Mozgov/JR/Shump were on the team). And we already began to add some depth as well in a much needed extra play-maker and shooter (Mo). By all accounts from RCF people who know these things, we're very likely to add another wing (Prince? Wright?) and a 5th big (Kaun? someone else?). So likely even more depth. And we're also likely to create that TPE which will give us flexibility to fill gaps as needed throughout the course of this season (or into next off-season if not needed before then).
So has this been an out-of-this-world off-season? Absolutely not. But it's been solid (esp. when you consider that we now have guys like Irving, Love, Shump locked up to very nice deals, especially with the upcoming changes with the new TV deal and players salaries) and can get better (whether this summer, or into the season), and we were already starting from a very good place anyway. As a post further up mentioned, Golden State changed very little with their roster this year, and went from a first-round exit to a championship. And unlike them, we don't have to face a gauntlet of Western Conference juggernauts to do that. Not every team needs to make enormous additions - as much as we all would've liked some dream of a deal to land in our laps.
So yeah, "we're not gonna win a damn thing" is far from truth from my perspective.
