Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

samickFanHouse

Shaw & his agent were under the impression the job was theirs, but it appears Cavs were going to string them & Scott along in negotiations.

What does that mean?

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

interesting!!!

on a sidenote:

This is a fucking nightmare. This is what you get when you have a rookie GM!

GOD DANG IT!

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

I can't imagine if this is what happens with the LeBron signing..

Haha... I'd actually love to see it merely for the reaction it would cause...

Of course he would come back to the Cavs... ; )

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

Not at all. There are a ton of scenes that could have happened.

I'm thinking Jackson is NOT retiring. I'm thinking the Cavs had their choice of coaches after finding out Jackson was NOT retiring. The Cavs went back to Scott who knew Jackson was NOT retiring. Scott knew LeBron was staying... or now knows that. The Cavs let Shaw know thanks but no thanks. Shaw's people can spin it anyway they wish as that's fine with the Cavs. The Cavs got their first option... besides Izzo. Cavs are happy. LeBron is happy. CP3 is happy. The players I'm very sure are happy.

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

Great news on the eve on free agency.

We finally have a coach.

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

Quote of the night: Danny Ferry is expected to turn down an offer to become general manager of the Blazers, according to a source close to the situation.

Ferry was concerned with the nature of how Kevin Pritchard and Tom Penn were fired after he had a meddling owner of his own in Cleveland.

Re: Broussard: Cavs in negotiations w/ Scott, to be next coach

Jackson might be retiring so Shaw withdrew his name.

Jackson might be staying so the Cavs had their choice of Scott or Shaw. They chose Scott. They keep LeBron for Sure. They now have a good shot at CP3 in two years.

LeBron signs a 6 yr contract. 3 years plus years 4, 5, and 6 of player options. He protects his income for the full 6 years. ... these stats are per Windy this afternoon.[/QUOTE]

I said that too a week ago. It only makes sense with the new CBA and he'll still have the Cavs by the balls after three years.

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

Operation Shaq & Shaw has been diverted.

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

MAYBE there is some behind the scenes stuff with lebron and what not

But right now,im disappointed that we didnt make shaw an offer right after that meeting

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

If this ends with Mike Woodson as our coach, then so help me god......

Maybe Chris Jent. :)

Seriously though; I hope Scott keeps Jent.

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

Why do I get the feeling that Shaw wasn't able to get the kind of assistants he was hoping for, and just decided to back out.

I highly doubt that to be true. I couldn't imagine a possible head coach candidate going to an interview without knowing who most of his assistants would be..

Re: Shaw withdrew name, Cavs now poised to get Scott

I'm glad. The triangle is nothing more than a glorified gimmick. Phil Jackson has always had Hall of Fame talent on his team and those types of players can make any set look good. If Lebron re-signs then he doesn't need to waste a year or two of his contract on learning the triangle. I think anyone would be better than Mike Brown at this point.

The triangle offense is a load of bullshit. It's just like any other offensive set--completely contingent on talent and execution. Phil Jackson has had the luxury of coaching first ballot Hall of Famers for the better part of his coaching career. It's why he has so many rings and it's one reason why the triangle seems so effective. Players like Pippen, Jordan, Shaq, Gasol, and Kobe could make any offensive set look fantastic. He gets too much credit and so does the triangle.

No need to be a broken record and say the same thing twice.
