I'm glad. The triangle is nothing more than a glorified gimmick. Phil Jackson has always had Hall of Fame talent on his team and those types of players can make any set look good. If Lebron re-signs then he doesn't need to waste a year or two of his contract on learning the triangle. I think anyone would be better than Mike Brown at this point.

Phil won the championship with the triangle his 2nd year on Chicago and his first year in Los Angeles.

Perhaps Byron Scott will have an easier time assembling assistant coaches. He probably has a lot more connections and guys that are willing to jump on board with him based on his coaching history.

Let him sign the damn contract first though...

I think Byron Scott has crazy leverage now. He is bout to get paid big $$$ because Cavs can't afford to lose him or they are stuck with Sampson.

Scott wanted to wait to be sure of what happens with LeBron and Phil. The Cavs got serious with Shaw and called Scott's bluff. Scott calls in and says, "OK, lets get the deal done"

I highly doubt that to be true. I couldn't imagine a possible head coach candidate going to an interview without knowing who most of his assistants would be..

Word was that he wanted assistants that were familiar with the triangle. There isn't exactly a huge list of people he could pull from in that case.

It's all speculation until Mr. Dan Gilbert himself tells us how it all went down, but I'll go with my gut instinct.

Just give me a damn coach anyway.

Not saying it's true or not, but it is possible they were using Shaw to make Scott lower his demands a bit (as some have already stated).

-Scott was reported as the new #1 choice after Izzo.
-Shaw comes in for interview, impresses Cavs, but apparently not enough for them to offer him the job..
-Scott's agent sends e-mail to Shaw congratulating him on the job, even though no consistent reports were out indicating that Scott had removed himself from consideration or that Shaw had gotten the job.


Now all this.

Certainly seems like Cavs & Scott have been playing hardball with each other this entire time.

But right now,im disappointed that we didnt make shaw an offer right after that meeting

But what if LBJ told Gilly that he preferred a coach with Head Coaching experience ?
What if CP3 told LBJ that Byron is The Man ?
What if Cavs, in their pitch to LBJ, need to distinguish themselves from Da Bulls....both hiring former assistants would not do that, but us having a former Head Coach would.

That said, lets connect the dots. I would bet (if we were allowed to bet on this forum) that LBJ and Bosh are BOTH coming here. My reliable source is Jerry McQuire.....show me the money. LBJ can get more here. Bosh has said he wants a Bird Rights Contract, not just a Max, which means SnT via Toronto. Toronto owner is down with that. Cavs can offer as much as anyone in a SnT. Plus, think about it.....the SnT for CB won't go to the team offering the highest package to Toronto IF CB tells the Raptors to work a SnT with the Cavs. He could say that he would approve a SnT with the Cavs, or he'll (bluff) just sign elsewhere elsewhere which would leave the Raps with nothing in return.
