Seattle Seahawks @ Cleveland Browns (1:00PM - CBS)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's going to want that ball in his hands as much as possible if he wants a good payout from us or anyone in FA.

Eh....his agent is in his ear and head. They don't want the wear and tear on his body without the cash. They're playing it safe, and it sucks for us the most. Some team will sign him to a fat paycheck based on last years performance. Even if he goes through this season as a malcontent. The next city will just assume they're going to get 100% since they paid up. It's how professional sports works these days.

The Browns are pretty much damned if you do, damned if you don't on this one. The Browns FO is playing it smart, but we're going to get little production out of him this year. In true Cleveland sports fashion he will probably sign somewhere else and put up big numbers again. I just don't see how we can pay him what he wants when the shelf-life on bruising NFL running-backs is so short.

In the mean-time, we're relying on a guy coming off a missed season and knee surgery. It's just an ugly situation all around.

about the only positive the browns get out of hillis playing is they suck more and get hardesty some carries. If you dont play hillis why in the hell would he come back?

Has anyone heard why type of money Forte is asking for? You don't hear too much about his contract sitituation but I am guessing he will be looking to be paid like a top 5 back.

to give everyone a heads up, the Browns have the #1 pass defense and #3 defense overall

There are 10 games left. We'll see how it holds up going into the toughest part of the schedule.

My biggest red flag with Hardesty is that he doesn't fall forward on contact. It's a major issue. Even on his run where he got to the second level, the safety absolutely blew him up. A legitimate 215 pound running back in the NFL does not get Vader power-bombed in the open field while running hard. And it was far from only that play. The guy gets tackled horizontally all the time. If he fell forward on just 20 of his 33 runs yesterday, he's looking at another 15-20 yards of rushing.

Maybe he's still working back from knee surgery? I'm not sure. But he runs without any power behind his pads which is a terrible thing in the NFL. If you're going to be a finesse runner (Reggie Bush, Jamaal Charles, Chris Johnson) you better have elite speed and lateral agility which he doesn't have either. I'm just not sure he has the ability to be an every-down back in the NFL.

I think if Hillis gets those touches yesterday, you're looking at least 120 yards, b/c Hillis isn't getting knocked backwards on first contact. It'd be great to see Hillis get/want 33 carries in a game. Unfortunately, until he gets a new contract, I don't think he wants the ball.

People are making too much of the power bomb tackle. Hardesty wasn't going at full speed when he got wrapped up. He had stumbled a few feet before he got there. Of he hadn't lost his footing he may have still gone down, but it wouldn't have been WWE style.

I don't get why people are still assuming Hillis would have done any better with that amount of carries. Hillis hasn't even earned the 500k he is being paid this season. We didn't really even skip a beat with the way the new RB caught the ball to make something out of nothing. Even Hardesrty was a lot better with the hands yesterday. Don't get me wrong, it would have been interesting to see what Hillis/Hardesty can do together, but Hillis hasn't done anything so far this season that says we would have been any better off with him taking the 33 snaps.

Hillis really hasn't done anything this season to make me think he would have done any better. While Hardesty got stuffed a lot, a few of his runs he made something out of nothing. Hillis doesn't have that ability at all. And his vision hasn't really been any better. While he is definitely a superior pass-catcher, the new RB more than made up for it by getting some key passes. Im not saying we don't need Hillis, but we are 2-0 without him. So in the meantime he can take all the time he needs icing his sprained labia.

Man, you are the biggest Hillis hater and I don't really understand why. Do you know how great of a year he had last year? Every game Hillis gets what 10 carries? Thats not the way to use him, I think his stats prove he's much, much more effective when he gets over 20 carries. If you commit to using Peyton Hillis like they did Hardesty yesterday he's going to produce. If Hillis isn't okay, I'd like to use chris ogbonnaya because Hardesty did not impress.

If Peyton Hillis would commit to being Peyton Hillis of 2010, it probably wouldn't be a problem either.

He's clearly not playing with the same energy. Not sure if it's the injury or the dollar signs, but it's pretty evident IMO.

Reading through this thread and seeing all the posts about the 'weapons' we have at receiver, and how 'open' said recievers were.... I swear I think we've all watched so much shitty football over the last decade that people are starting to forget what an 'open' 'weapon' looks like. I won't even start with the 'pocket' that McCoy was throwing from.

Kid's got a LONG way to go, but lets not have grand illusions about what our offense looks like around him at this point. People are falling way out of touch around here fast. Its the stink of a shitty football team, its ruining everyone's senses.

We have played some shit teams, but I do think our defense is improved. In fact, if we could actually move the ball on offense our rush defense would be much better ranked.

Not a hater, I just don't put much stock into last season. Hillis hasn't done anything that makes me think he is all that much better than Hardesty. Not saying we are better without him, because that's not true. But we are 2-0.

Well if we actually commit to Hillis like we did Hardesty yesterday than we might actually be able to make an evaluation.

Well it's hard to commit to a guy who refuses to get on the field. I don't believe for a minute that he's too hurt to play. He's pouting about not getting more money.
