Gotcha. So you want an "innovative offensive mind" over a coach who has won a Super Bowl. Makes perfect sense. Why go for tangible results when you can have someone who offers unproven innovation?

I was merely pointing out that Cowher would be the biggest splash that Haslam could make. And while you may yawn at it, the Browns fan base would be delirious.

Yes, I do.

Because their former Super Bowl has nothing to do with his prowess now.

Interesting. Let's lock this in. Let's say, b00bie, that you are the Browns owner and Bill Cowher wants to coach the team. But instead you are going to go with, who? You can have anyone else. Give us a name. "Innovative coach" seems a little light.

Dumbest video footage i've ever seen. Him putting a box into the car and then going back into the building

Is he bringing those Steelers teams with him?

I like Cowher as a coach, but he's the complete wrong fit here and for the life of me I can't figure out why after passing on this job about three times now why Gruden, Cowher or any other Super Bowl winning genius infallible coach is going to ride his horse into this abortion of a franchise.

I'm surprised this wasn't 19 action news. Pure Class.

I'm with b00bie in wanting someone like Chip Kelly over Cowher or Gruden (if that's what he's suggesting)...

In fact, I'd pretty much want Kelly over anyone else...

To me, he's what this team needs... An offensive mind known for his offensive schemes, bright mind and motivational yet likeable coach..

And for those worried about college coaches: how is Harbaugh doing in San Fran or Caroll in Seattle? Even though I don't think Schiano is a good coach or will last long in Tampa, they did go 7-9 this year after 4-12 last year... I realize all 3 had prior NFL experience but I think enough of Kelly as a coach that he will be able to adapt...

It's also funny Browns fans frown so much on a college coach, considering Butch Davis has been the best Browns coach since the return and only one to lead them to a playoff game..

I'm really excited to hear a lot surrounding Kelly and the Browns and hope it gets done... That is as long as he doesn't get too much control of personnel decisions and brings along a good defensive coordinator... I just hope the Eagles don't get in the way of the Browns pursuit of Kelly...

If Kelly does come to Cleveland, it would be interesting to see what defense he would bring... He ran the 4-3 his first year in Oregon and then a hybrid 3-4 the last 3...

Banner wants complete control over all of football operations. This is where the Lombardi rumors have come from he wants 2 puppets that won't talk back to him and will allow Banner (Napolean) to make all football decisions.

I believe that was the Power struggle Banner was having with Reid and Laurie. Banner wanted to have final say and Reid and Laurie in Philly were like Ummm no.

Also FWIW: reports have Banner and Haslam flying somewhere tonight to meet with a potential candidate... The candidate is unknown as well as the potential position but it's interesting nonetheless...

Rumor I heard was to Arizona to interview Ray Horton (Rooney Rule?) DC from Arizona.

Weak sauce. You can't even give a name?

And Smooth, I'm a fan of Chip Kelly. Can't wait to see how his game translates to the NFL. But Weeden and Richardson do not fit Kelly's offense. Bringing in Kelly means blowing up the groundwork Heckert laid. The Browns would also need slimmer, faster O lineman. If you want to do that, fine. But you have to admit that almost a complete overhaul of the offense would be a result of the hire.
