Shurmur and Heckert fired (ESPN)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Also FWIW: reports have Banner and Haslam flying somewhere tonight to meet with a potential candidate... The candidate is unknown as well as the potential position but it's interesting nonetheless...

Can someone creep the flight logs of Haslam's plane? That would really be fantastic.

Weak sauce. You can't even give a name?

And Smooth, I'm a fan of Chip Kelly. Can't wait to see how his game translates to the NFL. But Weeden and Richardson do not fit Kelly's offense. Bringing in Kelly means blowing up the groundwork Heckert laid. The Browns would also need slimmer, faster O lineman. If you want to do that, fine. But you have to admit that would be a result of the hire.

Weeden ran a similar uptempo offense to Chip Kelly's at Ok State. Also The NE Patriots have incorporated some of Kelly's principles into their offense and they have a statue for a QB in Tom Brady.

Are you kidding? An up-tempo offense? Alabama also runs an up tempo offense. They just run right at you ... quickly.

Kelly needs a mobile QB. Quick, fast RBs to play the edges. The Browns have neither of those things in Weeden and Richardson.

Not really.

The Patriots are basically running the NFL version of Chip Kelly's offense. It's close to the same one that Kelly would run in the NFL.

I've given a name twice now, Chip Kelly.

He's not going to run the same offense he does at Oregon, he's going to come in and exploit the matchups with the good young talent they already have.

Blowing up the offensive line for the spread option? With who? Weeden? Get outta here...

And people still have yet to explain how Cowher is going to come here now after passing three times already.

What with the prime example we've set by firing people for doing a good job (Heckert) I'm sure hell be so pumped about joining.

Chip Kelly is achievable, he's got to get out before the hammer falls at Oregon and he's a brilliant offensive mind.

The Oklahoma State offense was a spread read option and no huddle. Dana Holgorson was Weeden's OC in college and he was with Mike Leach at Texas Tech. It is from the Hal Mumme "Air Raid" offense. Sonny Dykes ran the same offense with Nick Foles at Arizona.

Legarrette Blount seemed to do pretty good in his offense so I don't see why using Trent would be any problem. I agree that we need a speedster though. Hardesty runs a 4.49 forty so hes in no way slow but someone faster would be nice to throw into the mix. Maybe snag up Kenjon Barner in the draft and or throw some money at Bush if the Dolphins don't resign him.

This is a common misconception. The Patriots are using terminology and a fast pace that was borrowed from Kelly. Here is the Boston Globe article. But they aren't using the same system. Kelly said before the season that he almost took the Bucs job because they had pieces he needed, which among other things was a mobile QB in Freeman.

Kelly and Weeden would not work. For that matter, Weeden and anyone might not work.

Josh Freeman is mobile?

Talk about a misconception.

Anyone who thinks Chip Kelly is coming here to run the exact same system he does at Oregon are just not looking at this objectively.

There are obvious adjustments.

I can see him running something similar to the Hal Mumme "Air Raid" which is what Art Broyles ran at Baylor with RG3 and Dana Holgorson at Ok State. The thing it it will probably be mostly out of the gun (with a few under center reads) and a lot of potential to change the play at the LOS. Much like what Washington has done with RG3. The entire concept to the offense is similar to a cross between the Run and Shoot and the WCO.

Washington has already encorporated some of this offense with the Shannahan version of the WCO.

Chip Kelly is way too smart to play all gun with Trent Richardson.

I don't think Kelly is tied to the gun, I think you'd see a ton of run action similar to what he does at Oregon.

But he'll play the talent he's got, I'm fully confident in that.

Please, please bring in Kyle Shannahan to coach this team. Can you guys imagine how amazing Trent would be running the zone running scheme that has made Alfred Morris what he is? It doesn't matter what kind of back you put there in that scheme, and one with superior physical skills is even better.

Shannahan is my number 1 guy I would want brought in, I just feel like it's not going to happen.
