So Long, Mo Gotti Williams

.....and discuss
Meh, I hope he is not out for the year. I think when Kyrie and Shump back he could be good in minimal minutes creating offense off the bench. Plus, he does provide nice depth as a 5th guard.

In terms of short term, though, I'm not too concerned. We've been statistically worse with him on the court. We were playing some of our best basketball when he was injured and Delly starting.

The big dilemma is Mo has never been good at creating three point shots. This season, the team is shooting 33% on 3s when he makes the attempted assist. This is compared with 44% for Delly, 43% for JR Smith, 39% for RJ and Kevin Love, 38% for Lebron, and, last year, 35% for Kyrie. Combine this with his 36% 3p% and it is abundant that Mo does not fit the "analytics" model offensive Point Guard. On one hand, his midrange abilities do open up the floor, but because his defense is so bad, Mo gives up whatever he creates on the following possession.

MRI came back negative, probable for Portland.

It seems like Mo spirit was broke when Kyrie start ramping up his rehab and started practicing he has been playing pretty bad for a couple of weeks and seems like it was around the time the media spotted Kyrie shooting after practice and looking more engaged in daily activity. I think its honestly all confidence with Mo and it was previous and he is in his own head about his role moving forward etc.

I don't know why people feel the need to feel for Williams. It's great he's back, but I want to win and he's not helping. Cunningham should be ahead of him. Williams shouldn't have a problem with that. He's playing for a contender. At this point he should be the Mike Miller of this year and share a seat next to James Jones. He should remain ready at all times to contribute in any way he can. If, he doesn't like that obviously he can leave.

In a thread filled with hyperbole this post takes the cake. I don't think anyone can really make a case for Mo's defense but he's already provided scoring in spurts this year and will be a valuable part of the rotation especially with Kyrie back.

Being thrust into a starting role, battling injury, and then being moved back to the bench. He's yet to enjoy any sort of consistency. Once he does he'll find his comfort zone and his role becomes more defined.

People need to relax. Comparing him to Mike Miller is absurdity.

Yeah, Mo has been overplayed (way too many minutes) and put in a role he isn't right for (playing D against top starting guards). At 15 MPG against second and third stringers he is going to look just fine. Especially paired up with good defenders like Cunningham and Shump.

I think he figured out that if he wants to keep his minutes he's going to have play defense.

He had some good stops last night.

This is how I feel. 10-15 minutes against backups. Good way to put some points on the board when Kyire and Bron and maybe even Kevin are sitting. Maybe have him play in only 3 out of every 4 games to make sure he's as healthy as possible for the rest of the year especially since we need him less-and-less as Kyrie returns to from.

On top of that, like I posted in the Blatt thread, he's great for certain situational moments. Like times where we need to ice the game with Free Throws, Mo has always been money in that department and we can just have LBJ inbound and give him the option of Kyrie or Mo, both of who have shown they're elite FT shooters, and the you also have Love as a safety outlet as a guy who shoots 80+% from the line.

Unfortunately, you know Lebron's 72% ass is gonna be taking those shots when it matters.

Ehh, if it's an end of game situation where you know they have to foul, I think the Cavs will make sure they have Kyrie or Mo(or both) on the floor to get the ball on inbound. LeBron will only be taking clutch FT's that he earns by attacking the basket and getting fouled or getting fouled shooting somehow.
