Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser #2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
But when we get to the point where people are complaining about the actual narrative of the story, and that Lucas shouldn't have done this or that with his own dream so fuck him and his ideas, I just can't get with that.

No one would tell a musician, "dude, you're doing this wrong because I don't like it, do it like this and me and my friends will dig it."

I mean, I'm not saying he didn't have the right to make three shitty movies. I'm just saying that they were shitty movies and he should have made them differently.

And I think calling out a movie's plot for being awful is totally okay. So fuck him and his terrible ideas.

Whatever Jack, @Chris already killed the shit out of my argument.. Fuck it, and fuck Lucas for doing it.

By the way, in an ironic twist, I've probably watched those Plinkett reviews through three or four times, which means I've effectively watched the prequels more times in the past ten years than the originals. :chuckle:

Plinkett's other reviews are great too. The Crystal Skull one is probably my personal favorite just for the "can't stop coming" part.

Any advice on where to get tickets for this bitch? I think I wanna go opening night...someone said not to use fandango?

Didn't get them the first night? Better start doing this...

Edit: In all seriousness though, my guess is that most theaters are going to turn themselves into Star Wars shops over the first weekend with literally every screen showing that movie all day long.

Couldn't find any iMax theaters in the CLE area on a cursory search. So maybe I'll stick around in Columbus and extra day and catch it at the imax in the Lennox AMC by campus.

Only problem? Opening night, only showing open still is at 1:40 AM. :chuckle:

Not sure if I should just wait until Friday the 18 to see it. Really don't wanna see any spoilers. Almost every big time movie, game, or TV show I look forward to I get spoiled.

Yeah, it's the downside of the social media age. All the shit just gets thrown in your face. I plan on going dark until I see it, whenever that is.

I was looking at tickets just now, and I don't know if this is just because I live in Canuckistan, but are they only pre-selling for the 3D showings?

Any recommendations for expanded universe novels (or whatever it is called) to read? The only one I've read is Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter and loved it. Maul was a character without much of a backstory and I loved learning about it.

I'm really reading either to find out background of characters the movies don't do a good job of describing (Maul, Vader between movies 3-4, etc.), entertaining stories with good character development, and/or background for the new movie. So any recommendations for individual books or series would be much appreciated.
For books, it depends on if you want to read good books, or if you want to read what is actually considered canon now after the universe reboot.

As I understand it, there are a lot of really great EU books that are no longer canon (probably because they are going to be mined and tweaked for the new movies).

I am reading Aftermath, the new novel that was just released, and my god it's horrible. I'm gonna power through it because it's not long and it sets up a lot of the gaps between IV-VI and VII. But it's some of the most childlike, amateurish writing I've ever read.

If you wanna know where the new stuff falls in the timeline and is now canon, here's a handy infographic.

I'd say fuck canon and just read the books that are actually good.

I really enjoyed the Han Solo books when I was younger. I have no idea if they hold up that well today, but when I first read them I thought they were really good. Boba Fett's origin in those books is so much better and more interesting than the dump Lucas took in the prequels.

Indeed, I'm actually familiar with what you're talking about.

What's most interesting to me is that Lucas was so disappointed with Empire that he cited it as the worst of not only the trilogy, but all six films combined.

I find that astonishing, but it really reveals how much this movie and portrayal of the Star Wars universe differed from his own vision.
WTF, is George Lucas the backwards man? Empire is pretty much universally considered the greatest star wars film. Pretty much everybody made fun of vader's "noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" in return of the sith; I can't recall anybody thinking that was an awesome moment other than for laughter at how ridiculous it was. So then he adds the same fucking "nooooooooooooooooo!" to return of the jedi? The guy is either a bigger troll than Randle from clerks, lives completely in denial, or he has an assistant that filters his news and reading material, so that he isn't aware of any criticism that is out there concerning his films.

I think it's a mixture of the first and the second. I think he got pissed at how the prequels were (rightfully) panned because he thought they were amazing and decided to troll fans in the re-release of the originals.

But given that he's the same guy who thought Greedo shooting first was a good idea despite Han shooting first being the first iconic Han Solo moment, he's probably just in total denial.

I have never read a work of fiction with so many uneeded colons in my life. Seriously, there are like 3 colons a page. Sentences like "He had two choices: left or right."

Dude, either use a comma or make it 2 sentences. So stupid.
