The 2013 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lol. well I guess my suggestion of bringing up Salazar was not as stupid as some of you claimed.
JImenez is an average pitcher that struggles vs good lineups such as Det. Give the kid a chance!

It's an unconventional idea, but I wouldn't be opposed to Salazar pitching the first 4 or 5 innings Wednesday, and then bring Jimenez on for the last couple innings as a "second starter".

Could you possibly exaggerate any more?

Francona confirmed it's Salazar starting Wednesday against Detroit.

Will be sent back down after that game.

Who threw 100 pitches in their last start? I know Salazar didn't. He got pulled after 52 pitches in 5 innings while throwing a no-hitter.

He's been on a 50-60 pitch limit this year in AAA. I think they pushed it to 70-80 last time he started for us.

In his first major league start I meant. He threw 89. He can definitely get to. 100 pitches if needed to. They have been pretty careful with him lately which means they have plans for him in the majors this year. And he gets the start Wednesday

He can get to 100 pitches, but they won't let him, that's the point.

He threw 89 under near perfect conditions. His limit that day was supposed to be about 80.

They have been careful with him because he has a history of arm injuries, not because they plan on using him as a workhorse down the stretch.

They will continue to be careful and cautious with Salazar whether he's throwing in AAA or the majors.

I completely agree with that. But I think he's going to a little leeway especially with how careful they have been with him. He won't get over 100 but I could see him getting 90-99-100. Depending on the situation

If he doesn't go over 89 pitches on a day where he only gives up 2 hits and a walk in 6 innings, I think it's fairly safe to say he won't be going past that number of pitches.

Salazar won't be going much more over 80. And the only reason his pitch count will be increased to 80 is cause it's with the big club.

Also, with Jimenez being pushed back to Friday, he will not be the long man Wednesday. It wouldn't surprise me to see them get rid of a bat (Reynolds?) for Wednesday's game, in order to not be down a bullpen arm.

Pestano?

That would be a shocking move, IMO.

It's much more likely Shaw gets sent down or Albers gets DFAd to make room, with Pestano coming back up following Salazar's demotion after the game.

I just don't see Francona going a game down a bullpen arm, especially with Salazar on a low pitch count.

I also don't see them DFA'ing Reynolds. He costs $7 mil. Might as well see if you can get some kind of production out of him.
