The 2013 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So which pitcher goes?

Albers has to be your long man. Shaw was just used in a very high pressure situation, so it doesn't look like it's him..

It would be Shaw, as he's our only pitcher with an option left.

Right, it just seems odd that we'd send down a guy who's thrown 9 1/3 straight scoreless innings and was just used in a high pressure situation, especially with our bullpen issues lately..

Rzepczynski, Allen and Shaw all have options left.

My guess is probably Scrabble for a game. We'd still have Hill to match up against lefties for the game, and the only lethal lefty that Detroit has (they only have 4) is Fielder.

They have to wait 10 days before calling him back up.

Bring back someone like Hagadone for the nine days and then bring him back.

Very prudent move, if the money is where I think it is.

EDIT: It is...

Nice move.

Some may argue his hot streaky production is bound to decline, but even at his worst Raburn isn't the prolific strikeout machine Reynolds is, and is a competent defensive player at many positions. Plus the guys in the clubhouse love him as well.

So do people on Twitter... :chuckles:

Great pickup. The bench has been huge for the Indians this season and now all of them are signed for a few years (other than Giambi - let's get him a coaching job ASAP :chuckles:)

Can he pitch?
I hope you're not talking about the starting rotation, because it's turned out to be a bright spot on this team this season, especially Masterson, Kluber, Kazmir, and Zach has been solid as well.

Team needs an offensive bat, Ryan Raburn has produced for the team this year.. Love the fact the team is bringing him back for a few more years.

Now, please, re-up Scotty Kazmir..

Trevor Bauer, RHP | Cleveland Indians

While Didi Gregorius hasn't exactly lit up the National League, so far he's provided a better return to Arizona than Bauer has to Cleveland, which is more a function of how bad Bauer's been since the trade.

Bauer has two major issues -- his velocity is way down, and he can't make an adjustment when it's clear that he can't locate near the strike zone. Bauer was still sitting in the 92-93 range in his few outings in the majors, but in Triple-A he has been more in the 89-90 range, which, for a guy who hit 97 mph regularly in college but never had great life on the fastball, is a serious problem.

Just three of his 350 fastballs thrown in the majors this year clocked in above 94 mph, and one of those came in above Michael Young's forehead. Add to that his severe trouble locating the fastball, especially when he's working at the higher end of his velocity range, with more than half of his fastballs 92 and up coming in belt-high and above, and you've got a recipe for ... well, Trevor Bauer's 2013 season.

Bauer needs to hit the reset button, and probably to let the Cleveland coaching staff help him do it, or else he's a future fifth starter at best.

I knew Bauer would suck. Called it immediately after the trade, much like when I nailed Derek Lowe's general suckitude and how many starts he'd make.
