The Brian Hoyer thread...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I got a feeling he'll want Alex Smith money. Somewhere in that ballpark.

I wouldn't give him "Alex Smith money" unless it's a short term deal.

If the Browns want to develop Manziel, a short term but lucrative contract makes a lot of sense for the Browns, even if it is Alex Smith money. They get Hoyer's prime years while Manziel makes low first rounder rookie scale money.

Problem is, it appears Hoyer will have some options available, and it also appears he has no problem walking away from the Browns (which isn't a fault on his part, he doesn't owe the Browns anything). He's probably going to get a long term offer from someone.

Really don't know how anyone can say he should be our QB for the future.
He's not a franchise QB and never was. But I still think he's solid, the most competent QB we've had since '99, and I'm not willing to get rid of him until we have another option available that we're confident will play better than him. (Spoiler Alert: It's not Johnny.)

You mean you don't think it's Johnny.

Back to Hoyer... he has stated he won't make public statements about his contract for the rest of the season, but Grantland recently threw out out an idea of short-term contract for Chad Henne money (8 million a year). That would last the amount of time Manziel is on a rookie deal.

Any thoughts on that figure, granted its for as long as Manziel is on his first contract?

I guess that doesn't stop his agent from talking to Schefter, though.....

Is that saying much?

Easy angry guy.

Adrian Foster might have been hurt, but that elite offensive line of the Texans looked just fine. Run defense continues to be the barometer of wins and losses this season.
