What is b00bie's opinion on Hoyer? I've not been around for awhile, so I've missed it. I always thought he liked Hoyer.
I do agree to what he means, we can't lose perspective. I don't seriously think he's the long-term answer necessarily, but I tell ya, look around the NFL. Name the QB's you're just dying to have outside of the top four: Brady, Manning, Rodgers, and Brees.
I'd say the two guys I'd love to have, without a doubt are Luck and Rivers. Guys like Big Ben, and Eli (at times) resemble very good, to borderline great QB's. Okay, a lot are high on Wilson, personally, I think he's just a really good game manager. But let him enter that category. I think these guys are the tier 2 level of QB's in the NFL. Hoyer clearly isn't in that class with them.
After that list, you enter the tier 3 level. The Jay Cutler, Romo (talented as hell, but always comes up small), Kaepernick, Flacco, Matt Ryan, and Andy Dalton room. Now, I'm not saying Hoyer is better than all these guys, but take a look at all these QB's. Some are considered franchise ones even, but all are considered good, middle of the pack starting QB's in this league.
Are these guys in your opinion CLEAR, without a doubt, easy upgrades over Hoyer? I don't think they are. I think Hoyer easily can fit into that category. Point is, it's hard finding really, good, to sometimes just serviceable QB's in this league.
I think Hoyer's ceiling is the tier 3 list. He's not done enough yet to put him there yet. But as you can see, I think you're good enough to at least win a SB with that kind of QB. Flacco has a ring, Kaepernick has been to a SB.
So sticking with Hoyer isn't a bad thing at all. Not everyone can have a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
