Cutler has been the same guy for years. He's a big-armed QB who is prone to mistakes. Like, he's what Derek Anderson and Brandon Weeden were supposed to be. Which, honestly, isn't saying much. He puts up big numbers, but he's always had accuracy issues and makes a ton of mistakes.
I like having Hoyer more and not just for contract reasons. Hoyer, while having accuracy issues of his own, doesn't have the same issue with turning the ball over. He's far from perfect, but he's done relatively well when you look at the overall picture through seven games. Assuming he still has the job when Gordon returns, it should be interesting to see what happens to his performance under center later in the season. I think Gordon will elevate his game and help hide some of the offense's weaknesses, much like he would do at times last season.
When Gordon returns, defenses will no longer be able to stack 8 or 9 in the box. The running game should open back up because of it and the offense should be able to move at a much more consistent pace. The Browns just have to weather the storm in the meantime.
