The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The entire Greyjoy storyline sucks and has always sucked. Wish they were never a thing. The sooner they are all dead, the better.

Yeah, I know the books had more depth, but that whole thing always felt like one of those minor subplots that just got away from GRRM. Like, he thought it might be fun to write about Vikings, but didn't know where to stop. I don't care about Asha, or Euron, or Victarion, or Aeron Greyjoy. Sort of the Westeros counterpart to all the Slaver's Bay crap.

How does he know he's sending a message? And how does he know it was specifically the Night King who did it?

Well, I don't think they knew it was specifically the Night King who did it but it was certainly done on his behalf. Who else?

Couple of things:

Theres a Bran vision that has still yet come to pass. The one of a dragons shadow over Kings Landing.

Two, the promo picture of the Night King where he has a 7 pointed star in his eye.

I'm kinda all in on him skipping the battle for WF and I, too, think hes headed for Kings Landing.

Personally, I just really enjoy the world-building those chapters provide. Martin is excellent at that.

And book Euron is awesome.

I can see that. For me, I was more interested in advancing the plot than in world-building, so I got tired of things that seemed to be detours from that. But others really did like the world-building aspect. I would blame that on having been following the story since the 90's, and so being tired of waiting, but some others who also were there early on feel as you do.

Can't please everyone.

So Mac from Always Sunny was in last nights episode and I somehow didn’t notice. Martin Starr from Silicon Valley also.

I did...when was this?

As soon as Beric and the crew walk into the castle, the courtyard had blood spots all over, but none of the bodies were there. Right before they ran into the Night's Watch that was there.

I just found it weird that that was the first thing someone said. Like they were saying "This will be important later". Usually, they're more subtle about this.

Not saying it ruined the episode. Just seemed a little out of character for the writers.

What is dead may never die.

Okay...let's say that Winterfell is attacked as a diversion, while the NK heads south towards KL. Which means that if the good guys actually win at Winterfell, that may still be a strategic loss if it prevents those forces from joining the real battle at/near KL.

So I'm thinking two big battles. The first is the Battle of Winterfell, which ultimately is a diversion for the NK to slip past them and head towards KL where there are fewer forces to fight him. The second is when/if the victorious defenders of Winterfell realize they've been "had" and race south. We know from Tormund last night that riders are faster than the NK's army, so the Dothraki might race down the Kingsroad to catch up to the NK's army. Ground forces could go to White Harbor, or maybe get lifted by Yara's fleet south to the Riverlands, and march the rest of the way. So we see a big battle down there with all major participants in proximity.

I guess that would work.

I still see the Isle of Faces as being important, though. i know the show has barely mentioned the God's Eye, but all it would take is for Bran to explain why it is important to plug that hole.

The isle of faces.

The NK’s army cannot cross the water. Only the NK on the dragon can reach there.
