The Official True Detective Scene

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want to know how the 'character' was able to do a bunch of drugs, knock out a gang while high, call himself to get himself to drive a getaway car for himself to hop into the back seat of. Still waiting.

If this is sarcasm then I apologize.

But I don't know why we are ready assume they are the same character?

Also, that's what cocaine does.

I was alluding to earlier in the thread when we were talking about whether or not the context was there to make the case that they are one in the same... I was merely presenting a question challenging the idea that they're the same person.

I don't watch Walking Dead, but I'd hold-up on that statement... True Detective is 4 episodes into a serial murder plot that has yet to even uncover any motive. While I'm not a Walking Dead fan, they've had seasons full of plot that has captivated millions.

True Detective can get there, but they need to take these detectives out of an office first.

The Walking Dead is a terrible show. It gets ratings because it's the only zombie show on television. The Walking Dead also has the benefit of being based on popular source material, although you'd never realize it because they've ruined almost all the great characters and plot lines from the comics. It's poorly written, often boring, and sadly the zombies are typically far more interesting than almost all of the living characters.

The Walking Dead isn't fit to hold True Detective's jock, and we can safely say that after four episodes. Hell, I could have called it after one. Everything on HBO is better than The Walking Dead.

That's what I wasn't sure of.

I don't think they're the same person because that would just be too pedestrian and boring. Dexter literally just did that like two years ago, and everyone yawned. Granted, I have much more faith in the two guys behind True Detective to pull something like that off than I ever would have in the Dexter showrunners (after season four, at least), but the fact remains that it has been done before, and probably will never be done better than Fight Club, so why bother?

Never been this enticed about a show that has barely any action. That last scene last episode, which was amazing, was the first real action scene and it was awesome. Can't wait to see what they do when they confront Ledoux after how badass they had him looking. Can't believe Matthew McConaughey has become this good of an actor.

The thing that makes this show special for me is that they can still make it tension-laden even though you know what's going to happen. You knew Rusty was going to get out of the complex alive, but that scene had your eyes glued to the tv to the point you wouldn't have flinched if a tornado ripped through your house.

finally caught up to date...

that tracking shot holy god. easily one of the best shots in tv history.

So I don't know whether to be bummed or excited.

So mmc and Harrelson are only on for 8 episodes total and its over.

But then the show continues with two new detectives

yes, it's (somewhat) loosely following the AHS style. same writer though, hopefully director too.

it'll be interesting to see if they get 2 more big time leads.

This is true? Honestly heartbreaking.

And how they handle the transition with either make or break the series. I'm also somewhat bummed that we only get the pair for 4 more weeks but at the same time it actually adds significantly to what's left. Knowing there's an apex and ultimately and end game in a month makes it that much more enjoyable to watch. At this point I don't want to (and we already know it doesn't happen) see these guys ride off into the sunset as friends. The special part about seeing this unfold from two different time periods is that you know it doesn't end like that. Ultimately the case is (allegedly) solved but their relationship is fractured forever as it would appear.

Best show on TV.

Another great episode tonight, this show is going to have an epic finale.
