biggest game of the year tonight. Lakers win, they get a 2 game lead over dallas and have the tiebreaker. Lose tonight and they fall a game behind utah, thus have to play 2 games better with just 7 left, plus let Dallas catch them in the all important loss column. I'm not sure who gets the head to head tiebreaker between LA and Dallas.

It's already a problem that they have to win 1 more game than Utah. Utah has 4 games left against playoff teams. The lakers have 5 against playoff teams plus the one game tonight against a team fighting for a playoff spot. 7 of the lakers 8 games are at the staples center, including their road game against the clippers.

If LA wins tonight, they hold the head to head tiebreaker with Dallas. With an LA win, basically, they would lead them by 3 games and would pretty much knock Dallas out.

If Dallas wins tonight, the tiebreaker would be resolved later (conference record, I believe).

Utah has 4 games left against playoff teams.

We need to start rooting that Memphis has something left to play for that last game of the season vs. Utah.

It is entirely possible they could be locked into either the 5th or 3rd spot (going at it with Denver), in which case they would probably be resting their starters.

That would leave Utah ending the season with Minny twice and Memphis team resting their starters.

We need Utah to have to scratch and claw every game to keep the Lakers chances as high as possible.

I remember when the Lakers started winning games a month ago and a few people were worried they were going to win too many games. :chuckles:

I haven't posted here in a while, but I'll ask this one question: do we want the Lakers to make the playoffs or not? I haven't been paying attention. Thanks in advance.

Make.

If they make the playoffs as an 8th seed we get the 16th pick.

If they miss we get the 30th.

Big difference.

Impressive how the Wizards turned it around so much once Wall got back. They were 4-28, looking as if they would challenge Charlotte for the worst record. Since then, 24-18. One example of a team whose draft pick may have suffered this year but must be thinking positively about next year.

He was a little slow getting back after the injury, but Wall has been a real stud the past month. 22 pts, 8 assists, 5 boards a game in the month of March.

Depending on what they add in the draft they could start to be a menace to the better teams, possibly sneaking into the playoffs.

Wall, Beal, and Nene are nice pieces. They need to get Okafor the hell off their books, though.

Still a disappointing season for them. You go out and bring in Ariza, Okafor, and Nene the last couple of years, you were expecting to make the playoffs by now.

He's signed through next year, and that's it. Not sure if he will be worth more as an expiring contract to them or a trade partner.

I've been, well, shocked that Wittman didn't lose that team. It would have been very easy for them to just go through the motions. Instead, they have played hard for him for a couple months now. :dunno:

They certainly had higher expectations, but it could have been much more disastrous.
