Trade deadline Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
KG and Ray were both traded because they were veterans on teams that were rebuilding. It made sense to trade them.

If the Hawks do poorly, MAYBE if we're REALLY lucky and he demands a trade, Joe Johnson becomes available. However, if they're rebuilding, they wouldn't trade away their 22 year old center who was VERY good last year.

I do see your point I wasn't really thinking muchabout that.

Suppose the Nuggets are absolutely tanking and Melo demands a trade at the deadline... What do you think it would take to bring him in. Wally, boobie and a first? Wally, West, and a couple Firsts? Would Melo be worth that much? I know he doesn't necessarily fill either of our needs, SG and Big Man help, but LeBron could slide to SG or PF perhaps? The two man game between Melo and Lebron, with Mo spacing the floor, would be amazing. thoughts?

Well hypathetically we would need to do a Melo for Wally straight up, and then a DW, Sasha, AV sort of thing for a rediculous contract that doesn't expire this year or next.

I wouldnt want melo, I dont think he would fit in well....Wade is the much better fit, although not happening. I think the best fit of the class would be Amare, after that Bosh...but amare next to Lebron and Mo would be sick.

Completely agree, but isn't Amare like 27? And isn't Wade also 27? That means if true they would bot be 29 in 2010. Now that is no big deal, but LBJ will be 25. Their primes are no were near matching. Bron and Bosh are the same age so they'll both be in their primes together with Mo as the elder, and Boobie picking up the rear.

Scratch that found my own answer on Amare and Wade, Amare is 25 like Mo and DWade is 26.

Amare played one year at a finishing school then was drafted...the year before LBJ...he is still young. If the knee holds up, he is a perfect compliment. Also a pipe dream. Actually Dwight Howard is the perfect compliment, lol...but Orlando is letting him escape. They will handcuff him untill he signs his extension when he becomes a free agent.....i know if I was Orlando's GM I would. :chuckles:

I would be all for Amare, but i just don't see it happening. I don't see the Suns going into rebuild mode anytime soon, maybe next year when we have Ben to ship their way, but not this year for sure. Same story with Bosh in Toronto. That's why I brought up Melo, i think it is much more likely that Denver tanks than any other team with a guy we would want. Also, he has been a tad of a troubling franchise player, to the extent that he might not be the kind of guy Denver wants in that position. Of course, Denver would much rather tank by shipping out AI, but if Melo demanded a trade, they would probably go along and shoot for the high lottery to build around JR who has been tearing it up in the preseason.

Even if available he doesnt fit. Melo is round peg, we have a square hole to fill. I dont see amare being a possiblity at all, just a better fit. I do see Bosh being a slight possibility. About the same as Melo.

When i look at a guy like Melo, I see a round peg. But i guess the round peg fits because the guy currently in the round peg hole, LeBron, can also fill the square hole. You know what i mean?

Melo the only problem wth him would be well two problems. 1) position, he isn't big enough (weight) to play PF and we already have this guy at SF who is pretty good. Also i'd consider a move to SG for LBJ but i'm not sure about that (but wouldn't that sure as hell cure the shooting guard blues?). 2) Melo is a bad person, he is in trouble a lot in Denver, and it might rub off on LBJ. That is not good if LBJ is going out getting drunk every night, or getting in trouble with the law. Not good at all

Fair enough Mdog, but if you look at the starting lineups that are likely to crash and burn, not one of those teams have a big that would make our team much better. Would you take Drew Gooden or Boozer back?
The bobcats shouldn't be in great shape, but didn't they just sign Okafor to a big deal? I don't see him going anywhere.
Perhaps David Lee or Okur would be available, but I doubt either will be considering that Lee is the most loved player on the Knicks and the Jazz are going to need Okur if Boozer leaves in free agency.
Perhaps Chris Kaman if the Clippers fall flat on their face, but i doubt they would ship him off after picking up Davis and Camby.
Our best bet might be Wilcox, but he isn't exactly an all-star, and i think he is prone to many of the mental mistakes Drew was hated for.
In other words, there probably won't be a lot of options to ship Wally off for to strengthen our front court.
Kind of a pointless post, but, what the hell, why not?

i do, but Lebron would be playing way out of position at sg at this point. He is skilled enough to do it, but actually better served at pf than sg imo.

Good post. Any way I would for sure take Drew back, but Boozer not a chance in hell. He left us once when he was a FA and he would probably leave again because we couldn't give him a huge contract. Kaman i'd take him, but i'd more like to get a young PF or C.

David Lee may very well be available. Not saying the Cavs would even target him, but the Knicks have announced they are not signing him to an extension by the end of this month, which I'm pretty sure means he'll be unrestricted. So they don't care about him that much. Plus, the Knicks do NOT want to take on any long term salary. They're dead set on getting read of their dead weight & salary by 2010 so they can pick up a major stud (obviously Lebron is one of them, but really any of the studs of that free agent class).

I don't see Kaman, Okafor, or Okur being available either. I also am not that thrilled about Wilcox, although it'd be very nice getting points from a big man other than Z.

And while I don't think Kaman will be available, I think it's possible Camby may. If the Clippers (who currently think they're a playoff team, and think they can be a competitive playoff team on top of that) struggle this year (which is very possible...losing Brand, Davis is obviously injury prone, Kaman is as well, Thorton and Gordon are very young, etc.), I'd say Camby is a top candidate to be shipped out of LA if they decide to go that route. He's not someone they'd build around and he makes a lot of money. Plus they know a contender would love to add him to their roster.
