Welcome Shawn Marion #31

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looks like Ally got muscled out and had to settle for sticking her mic in from nearly behind Shawn. :)

Nah, James Jones is merely a placeholder in the "bigs" rotation. The last few weeks with Marion out have been an opporunity for him to show what he has left in the tank, and really it's what we expected when we signed him- shooter off the bench- not an actual big.

Can't argue with that until he shows us otherwise. Casual fans don't realize how critical this guy is in glueing the team together.

The couple weeks are going to be huge, even the next few practices, really. He may determine that his hip has turned into drywall...who knows?

I thought Marion was our best "old man signing" at the beginning of the year when Miller and Jones weren't showing anything. He was crucial for that first string of wins. It would be great to have him off the bench again. I am just not sure he has enough left.

I think for some odd reason that last Phoenix was the first game that TT and Moz have played significant minutes together. I don't know if Blatt is trying to hide this pairing so he can blitz teams with a defensive frontcourt, but they looked stifling out there. I had been wondering why they never got time together.

With the way Blatt has played James Jones it seems like he is really committed to having that stretch 4. We will see. I am thinking Marion may be done.

Marion is no JJ but back when he was healthy he could hit an open 3. He shot 35.8% last year. I wonder if he will be truly healthy before the playoffs though. I think if he was he could be a big help with our depth.

Cavaliers forward Shawn Marion said Thursday his injured hip is feeling better, but he does not want to rush his return, reports Bleacher Report.

Marion has been out since Feb. 12 while recovering from a left hip strain. He will not play in Thursday's game at San Antonio, but he did not rule out playing in Sunday's contest at Orlando.

"We're rolling," he said.

There's an @Lee joke in there somewhere but I'm just not seeing it at the moment.

How could you not see that one? The joke is so easy i wont even make it.

Oh wait, i will.

Speaking of sticking in from behind, how is Delonte and Gloria doing?

Blatt was interviewed before the practice today at Orlando and said that Marion is practicing today with the team. Hopeful that he can dress and play tomorrow. If not, then soon.

Good. I'm a rare poster on this board in that I'm a Marion supporter and a Delly supporter, so I don't get mad when either plays. Don't see that too often here. :chuckle:

The question becomes whether he will get James Jones' minutes? I hope so (though I also hope Marion starts hitting the corner 3 at a respectable clip), since he brings a lot more to the table, but Windhorst's recent reporting really reinforces how much LeBron likes playing with Jones.

Cleveland Cavaliers' forward Shawn Marion could make his return tonight against Orlando Magic

ORLANDO - For the first time in three weeks, Cleveland Cavaliers' forward Shawn Marion could be in uniform tonight against the Orlando Magic.

Head Coach David Blatt said he's hopeful Marion will be activated this evening, though the chances of him seeing playing time are slim to none. The team is on a roll and James Jones has been used at the backup three-four spot.

It could be too late in the season for Blatt to be tinkering with the rotation, but he has shown that he's willing to go the unconventional path when it comes to substitution patterns.
