GAME 68 | Cavaliers vs Heat | Wednesday Mar. 20 7:00 pm

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brett Favre had two replacement brought in. The team owners had tried to convince favre to retire a few years before. I dont think the two situations compare.

I see a lot of people mad that are making things up to be mad about.

- complaining about tristan sitting 8 minutes in the 2nd half when he sat 3:45, and sat while Bosh was out.
- complaining about boobies 2nd half turnivers when he had all of 2
- complaining about waltons 2nd half turnovers when he had just 1.
- complaining about Boobie missing shots in the 2nd half, he missed all of 2
- complaining about Walton missing shots in the 2nd half, he missed just 1

The heat turned up their defense 200%
LeBron turned up his game 200%

We rallied from down 9 to cut the lead to 1 and had the ball (I guess the coach gets no credit for getting the team to rally). Our player running on fumes missed the shot (apparently he should have played 7 more minutes than his 41 minutes to keep our only backup guard off the court), then the refs blew the out of bounds call despite having replay. I froze the frame on the video when LeBron was clearly then only player still touching the ball, the heat still get the ball. Without that call, we have another shot at it.

Which leads to complaining about running the clock down before shooting that shot. Had we made the shot, just how many seconds do you want to leave LeBron for the chance to hit a game winning shot.

We are missing 3 of our 4 best players and played the 2nd hottest team in the history of the league.

We didn't lose the lead in the 4th because Tristan sat 3:45 while Bosh also sat, we lost the lead because LeBron scored 11 points on 4 shots in 2:02.

In the 3rd we had this stretch

3:28 53-71 Luke Walton offensive rebound
3:28 53-73 Luke Walton makes two point shot
2:50 55-73 Luke Walton out of bounds lost ball turnover
2:06 58-73 Tristan Thompson misses 13-foot jumper
1:24 61-73 Daniel Gibson misses 26-foot three point jumper

The first put us up 20. Then just one turnover and two missed shots. When we got the ball back, we were up 10. They scored 10 points on 4 possessions in 2:14. Shane Battier, who otherwise was 1-5 from 3 for the night, made two three pointers in a row for 6 of those points. I guess that's Boobie's fault.

That's 21 points in a combined 4:16. That's how explosive the heat are.

Favre was a gunslinger and LeBron is more of a pocket passer. I just don't see it.

zero to do with the skills, everything to do with the hero-worship and obsession. it passed nauseating in 2010.

This whole thread is amazingly sad. I am disappointed in the whole lot of you. The team played their asses off and all you want to do here is bitch and moan about not winning. I expected them to get blown out. There was really no reason for them to be able to compete with the Heat missing their best three players. None. But, they did anyways. They built a huge lead and eventually lost it. Guess what, that is what happens in NBA basketball. It is a game of runs. That great Cavalier win over the Heat a couple of years ago had the team blowing a large lead as well. I bet the lot of ya forgot that. The thing this team didn't have that that team did was Baron fucking Davis to steady the ship and help weather the storm.

This thread is 52 pages long. How long would it have been if we have just closed up shop in the first half like I was expecting before the game? People here really need to enjoy the positives and stop hanging on the negatives. They played a hell of a game. The roster is incomplete and it showed. But, my hats are off to giving real effort and taking it right to the end with a chance to win with just 5 seconds on the clock. Really can't ask for more then that.

I'm a full supporter of the tank. I also didn't get to see the game until I got to the gym at 11pm, after work. Then I saw Sportscenter.

I almost cried. Instead of watching tons of positive press for the Cavs ending the Heat's streak, I see an absolutely MOIST AS FUCK LeBron sloshfest. Literally, it was as if every commentator had his lips around LBJ's twig and a hand fingering his arse at the same time. It was appalling. I had to look away after about 20 minutes.

So, while I think it's nice we didn't get "blown out," and I want to say I'm not mad and it's just one game and at least it's a win for the tank crew etc etc ... well, um, I'm mad.

Yeah. You get what I'm talking about.

It was a disappointing game, but I remind myself that it's all for the tank. The Heat taking entire quarters off is just boring basketball, honestly.

anyone have a picture that shows who that ball was really out on? Is there a photo? Did all of those cameras the cavs installed catch it better than the TV cameras?

I was 3 rows from the floor tonight, it was absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, out on LeBron. Horrible call that I can't believe they blew.

It was a great experience though, I've been to a ton of great games but I've never had seats like I did tonight. I could hear what the players were saying. They could clearly hear us too as one of the refs was catching a ton of shit from me and a bunch of other Cavs' fans sitting near me. That's what I love about going to sporting events live, throwing out high fives and cheering with people you don't know.

There were some LeBron fanboys near us too, I mean I was disgusted that people would root for LeBron over the Cavs but at least they weren't obnoxious. We threw insults back and forth but it was all in good fun and we laughed about it. It was a bit sickening to see so many Heat jerseys in the stadium. It was probably about 70/30 in favor of the Cavs. Still, the only time I've ever been to a home game with so many opposing fans was a Browns/Steelers game.

LeBron did get booed a lot though. Every time he touched the ball boos rained down. It was weird, almost like it was on a delay. You'd hear boos from the majority of us and then a second later you'd hear cheers on a smaller scale.

Walton and Boobie were awful tonight. I was dumbfounded by Byron's rotations. Everything fell apart in the third when he was riding Boobie and Walton and refused to pull either. Zeller had a double double in the first half. I get sitting him in the third, he had foul trouble, but why didn't he play much at all in the fourth? Tristan's huge absence in the third confused me as well. When it was clear Walton was sucking why didn't he go to Speights? Walton's a good passer but he tried to do too much tonight and he made some dumb moves. Boobie was just useless tonight and Asspi made me spit my drink when he tried to take someone off the dribble.

Also there was a celeb a row in front of me. I'm not sure who it was, he was clearly some kind of UFC guy. He had tatts up both arms and a mohawk. He was wearing an American Fighter t-shirt and he was pretty massive. He kept posing with people for pictures and putting up his fists in a fighting pose. He was cheering on the Cavs though, not a LeBron fanboy.

People are imagining Thompson's minutes, and everyone elses for that matter. Thompson sat with like a little over 3 minutes to go in the third. Pretty sure Livingston sat about that same time. All of that damage, all of it, was done in like the last 3-4 minutes of the third quarter.

Here we go. Boobie entered the third with 3:51 left. Thompson played the entire third. The lead was 20, TWENTY, when Gibson came in. All of the bad shit that happened happened in under 4 minutes.

Thompson then sat to start the fourth, and entered with 8:15 left. So, right here, this idea that Thompson sat out a long stretch of the second half is dead (and quite a few seem to think this happened). He sat out less than 4 minutes in the second half. Livingston played at the start of the fourth, so he only sat for the last 3:51 of the third.

In other words, there was, at no point in the second half, that either Thompson nor Livingston on the court. Only about 7 minutes that both werent on it together. Gibson managed to do all that fucking damage in less than 4 minutes. Byron tried to win. He played the guys a ton of minutes in the second half.

I'm not saying Byron tried to tank it tonight. You're probably right about Tristan's minutes too, but those 4 minutes with Walton and Boobie on the floor seemed like forever because of how piss poor they played. If your team is imploding, why not make some kind of change? It didn't even necessarily have to be Tristan. Walton and Boobie were just ass tonight.

I don't know what would have fixed it other than bringing Livingston back in. Gibson running the point is always going to result in a dumpster fire. And yea, it seemed like an eternity, but that's just how bad Daniel Gibson is. He makes it seem like he's been on the court for 25 straight minutes when instead its been about 4.

Also if anyone can help me figure out who the UFC looking dude was I would appreciate it.

Unless they totally blew the game logs everywhere, Thompson didn't sit at all in the 3rd. He took a shot with 2 minutes left in the quarter and wasn't subbed out at the next dead ball which was with about a minute left.
