Jesus Christ Heals You

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've got a fitting story from this weekend. I went to my brother-in-law's wedding in DC this past weekend. My 5 year old son, who is gutting through the complications of his autism diagnosis, was the ring bearer and wore a three piece suit with a coral bow tie. There were about ten kids from my wife's side of the family. The bride's side had only two girls. Their parents are very strict Christians who live in the Bay Area, my wife and I get along fairly well with them. However, they are hyper-Christian. Home school Christian.

So at the reception, there's a bouncy house and trampoline for the kids. My son joined in with the older cousins on the trampoline, still wearing his three piece suit, singing: "I am Je-sus. I am Je-sus." as he bounced.

I don't know why he decided to chant that he was the Son of God. He is quirky and struggles with day to day interactions, but he also knows how to win over other kids with inappropriate jokes. He might also have felt immense power as he bounced, flying through the air. He might also be the second coming and we didn't realize it yet. The oldest cousin - an 11 year old Jewish girl from New York, said, "This kid is hilarious!" and started jumping up and down with her sister, chanting "I am Je-sus. I am Je-sus." Then the cousins from Tennessee joined in, suddenly we had about eight kids bouncing on a trampoline claiming to be The Messiah. I was three beers in, so I just stood by and laughed.

Then I saw the bride's family... clutching their two girls... horrified.

Please pray for their sense of humor.

He does it again and they give you shit you say, "my son just doesn't have a filter and that's his cross to bear."

He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy.

All of Paul's writings were many years after the death of Jesus. Also that 1 paragraph sums up all paul has to say about Jesus. There is no historical reference points to any of the stories about his birth/ministry etc it is that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and raised on the third day.

Why does it matter that he wrote things many years after the death of Jesus? It does not change the facts. Jesus' resurrection is the most important thing written about Jesus. Think about it. Paul, a Pharisee, leaves his high ranking position in the temple to preach with the very people he was persecuting. Why would he do that? Something major must have happened. Yes!!!! He saw Jesus risen from the dead. Then he went and risked his life so you could know. Paul proclaims that a man raised from the dead and you are worried Herod. Think about that.

Prove it.

Wait until Biggus hears of this!

Because if you don't include Herod then the timeline is off. That makes you believe that the person never actually existed because he was born during the reign of Herod the great (4 BC was Herod's death so either Jesus was older or a fabrication of several stories).

The evidence isn't there. There are 0 primary sources DURING those early years convenient his birth is talked about then we skip ahead until he is 30. Where is the archaeological record or written accounts from pagan sources in the area (Egypt, Persian, Roman etc)?

It seems like you are really confused to the facts which I have pointed out so far. This makes me confused as to what you are thinking because you do not have the facts.

Also why is Josephus and Paul the only real writings we have on Jesus pre-60s AD? I would expect the Egyptians, or even the Romans to have pagan historical accounts of the person. In addition some of the timelines don't add up correctly. When they say Jesus was born during Herod. Was that Herod the great? He (Herod) died in 4 BC, What about his successor Herod Antipas I? I thought he went by his more Roman Name Antipas.

It depends on what you mean by real. No one knows for sure when they were written. From what you are writing it seems that you believe Paul's writings are legitimate. Why don't you believe Paul? You expect there to be more writings, but lack thereof does not disqualify it being true. So lets try and clear things up for you.

Let us say that Jesus was born 5 BC that would mean he was born during the reign of Herod the great. Herod the great died 4 BC. Herod the great was succeeded by his son Herod Archelaus not Antipas as you claim.

Luke 3:1:

In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis,

Tiberius Caesar started to reign in 14 AD. Fifteen years after that would be 29 AD. Pontius Pilate was reigning over Judea at this time. The Herod here is Antipas who succeeded Archelaus.

Luke 3:23:

Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli

Jesus was in his early thirties and the history also matches. They are speaking of a historical person. Jesus rose from the dead. I want you to know this. It is very important for you to know and believe this.

Antipas was the ruler of Galilee and not Judea. Herod Archelaus was the ruler of Judea until a provisional governor took over.

And no it isn't important for me to know that. The thing is there is 0 evidence from the time you are using a source that was written at least 60 years afterwards but there is no pagan accounts, no jewish accounts, no roman accounts heck the only "accounts" we get are always written after the fact.

What you are doing is trying to build evidence from circumstantial sources. There is no first hand account.

Also yes the bible does have some historical data. That can be backed up by other sources (the reign of Tiberius being one).

Jesus Christ did not heal my terrible hang over I had to work through this morning. Didn't even ease my suffering

I have been praying for you before I even started this thread and will continue to do so in the future.

No seizures since you started praying for me. If you stop, I will know.

I don't operate too much in moving in the miraculous, but one night in Orlando back in June, my brother and I were on a corner downtown preaching and some man with a crutch was crossing the street toward us with a crutch and a cast on his foot cussing at us saying, "JESUS DONT LOVE ME! JESUS DONT LOVE ME! IF HE LOVE ME, WHY HE DON'T HEAL ME!"

So I called him over, we start talking to him asking him question, basically just what his name is, what happened to his foot, and small stuff to open him up to pour out whatever it was that he had built up inside of him.

He let us know a car ran over his foot and thats why it was in a cast, he lost everything, the man was in his 40s. Long story about his life and how it all come to ruin, crying, the whole 9. He couldn't walk without his crutch nor could he stand without it.

So then I hear the Lord tell me to tell Him that He wants to heal him. So as he was talking, I had to stop him to let him know that the Lord wants to heal him.. so I asked him if thats ok.. he said ok..

So I reached down and touched his toe, which was coverd in his sock, through the opening of the cast and began to pray and call on the Lord to heal him and show Him his healing power, etc..

After about 2 minutes of prayer, I finish and ask him how he feels... He said, "I aint calling you no angel or nothing but a.... i dont feel no more pain!"

So I began to give God glory right there! He had no pain, he put his crutch down somewhere and was walking around the corner with no problem at all!, we got back to preaching, he was happy, whatever he was crying about seemed to be washed away, his crutch, he forgot where he even put it! Thats how far removed the pain of his heart and of his foot was removed from him! Praise the LORD!

Never saw him since, but his name was Mike. A good brother who the LORD healed one night in Downtown Orlando, 2017. Amen.
