A few random thoughts to throw out there:
- Instead of simply relying on MPH for velocity, I would like to see a metric called "Time to React" where we measure a few things
- Determine the average time it takes an MLB hitter to execute a swing, from the moment he decides to swing, until the moment the bat becomes perpendicular to the pitch line (parallel to the front of home plate).
That's something you just need to clock once. Grab an average-aged MLB hitter, tell him to swing as soon as a light flickers (you don't even need a ball in this situation). Same way you judge response times in other arenas. It's an interesting idea, but how could you ever actually measure the bolded?

... I am going through such a terrible slump.
Started 2 tournaments ago. 2 first ab were 330 foot hr. Then I hit 2 a mile (in the. Air) but they ended up getting just to the track and getting caught.
Then I lost it. 7 outs in a row.
Carried over into yesterday tourbament, 3/9. I'm a 750 hitter.
Tonight it continued. 13 more swings. I really do not know what I'm doing at the plate at the moment.
Game one 3/6, 2 ab I just went OPPO and missed one, think I tried cutting 3 and got on twice there, just kept my hands high for the last one and flew out 280 feet away. It was a low pitch, don't know what else to do on that.
Game two just tried OPPO 3 ab and missed all three, pop ups.
Game 3 finally hit a shot, a hr to lcf. Hit the ball hard enough on the other two to no one could field it.
This absolutely fucking sucks. I'm scared to just hit normally because I'm worried it's gonna be a fly ball. I am missing the ball going OPPO which is typically great at evening my swing out. I don't have much experience cutting the ball and it's real easy to miss thay way too. I just am not barreling many balls, missing everything. It does not feel comfy at the plate, nothing feels natural. And I feel like if I swing natural it's gona be a 280 foot fly ball.
Been hitting better but like this is still a problem. If I connect its a hr and there are restrictions everywhere. Even if you cut the ball, if it launches at over ten feet it can carry 240 and it's a hr (out). Yes, it's been going better, but I still don't have a solution. As Paul Harvey would say if he wasn't worm food - what's the rest of the story? I seem to recall you having better fortune at the plate recently.
