Stop trying to discipline the fans.
Fans can do whatever they want. And no, he isn't a better 3pt shooter than Luka or Trae...volume, shot difficulty matters.

You haters always moving the goal post...lol

I also find the hate Sexton gets around here weird and i posted about it not in the Pelicans game thread but in the 76ers game thread.
I think ppl need to learn the difference between ball hog and a guy whose coaches have told him to look to score because he has the skill to do it.

Sexton is obviously our best offensive player and projects to be one his whole career. I don’t have any issue with him shooting a lot

Meanwhile, we have a point guard that's too scare to shoot a wide open three. I guess, fans are happy with it as long he gets his assists...

The hate with sexton is mainly because people expect him to be a point guard. If we accept him as who he is, a scoring guard, then maybe we can appreciate him more. Never gets hurt, efficient, hard working. Short guards who mainly just score are frowned upon by the general fan, the likes of ben gordon, monta ellis, etc. If you're short, you have to be a playmaker first and a scorer second. This is why drafting garland was such a head scratching move. It delays the growth of sexton as a pg and limits the growth of garland as well.

For the month of February, Collin Sexton’s stats:

21.9 pts, 2.3 reb, 4.1 ast
47% from the field and 28-58 from 3pt (48%)

In fact last 2 months, Sexton has made 61 3s at 46% rate which is impressive.
And his passing has been much better as well.
Looking forward to these last games.

I think there's a lot of legitimate frustration at his defense. If he became an average defender, he'd have multiple all star games in his future.

No reason to believe he will improve on defense he has in everything else

...who was not selected for the All-Star game or the Rising Stars game, except as a last minute injury replacement.

The injustice!

I think,it's mostly because he's not flashy like Morant,Zion and etc....Hell,he's not flashy like Garland and Porter.

The All Star game is littered with poor defensive players. Wasn't Trae Young a starter this year?

You expect players to play defense during the All-Star game...:conf (5)::conf (5)::conf (5)::conf (5)::conf (5):

The fact is, the vast majority of 1st, 2nd and even 3rd year guys who come into the league heralded primarily for their offense are poor defenders. I'm not comparing Collin Sexton to any of these guys, but just as a point of reference... as great as Luka has been -- and he is a revelation -- the Mavs have to hide him on defense and he is still oftentimes exposed anyway. As incredible as Zion is through his first nine games, and it has been something to see, he is mostly lost on defense. Trae Young rates as one of the worst defenders in the history of the NBA by some defensive metrics.

Hell, I remember LeBron being dogged for years as a guy who would get a flashy block or steal now and then, but defense was considered his last hurdle... until it wasn't ... and it took longer than most probably remember.

You just go down the list and almost to a man, all of the bigtime offensive performers start their NBA careers as poor defenders. This isn't to say Collin is going to show up one day a couple years from now and be Gary Payton out there but I'm happy with his growth so far this season in all aspects. He is getting better. It is pretty obvious when watching the team play that they have more confidence in him now and that is as important as anything.

Give him the space and watch him blossom.

Collin is in a way like Westbrook.gritty wants to win plays hard at all times but since he is not flashy they do not get the respect they deserve a lot of players the media like are flashy but I would rather have Collin and Westbrook over the flash in the pan most of the flashy one in a couple of years they are coming off the bench. And the media is making excuses for theml

Are we sure that Sexton doesn’t have the highest potential out of all the young guys on the team? He’s having one of the best games of his career tonight and he’s been amazing all season.

I do think it’s time to bench Garland for KPJ. The latter is just a better fit with the starters.

I think Westbrook got noticed early on because that OKC team got good very quickly. Also he was able to show his speed because his teammates would quickly get him the ball alot more than this team does with Sexton.
