I totally forgot about that trade. This month and a half without basketball has made me forget the whole season already.

To be fair, I think he was getting ready to come back from injury when the season ended. I don't think he played a game for the Hawks

“If they feel like I could have done something here or there then I will note it and just save it so I can watch it again and then the next time down see if I did it right,” Sexton said. “Count how many times I could have dropped it to Tristan (Thompson) or kicked it to Darius (Garland) or KP (Kevin Porter Jr.) on the 3. I think about the things she has told me. Then mark them each game just to see if I did it.”

I just find it really hard not to like this kid just as a person/player. He obviously busts his ass to be the absolute best basketball player he can be. I suspect we'll see a substantial tick up in his assists next year. If he can get it up to even 5.0 apg, he'll be entering territory where he's viable as a PG.

You are right that the bar isn't very high.

I will be interested to see if the Hawks actually take the leap this year or not. I do think Capella helps them. They are in the same boat as us in that they are pretty much fine offensively, but need defense to make the step. Are we one year behind them or are we ahead now because our defense got much better and they were still the worst?

I think we might see some growth from east teams next year. We will have to see.
Personally think Atlanta are very overrated, this young core thing I just don’t see.

Trae Young - insanely good offense, very bad defense.
John Collins - very good offense, very bad defense
Deandre Hunter - role player
Cam Reddish - think he will just be a streaky player his entire career
Kevin Huerter - solid starter
Bruno Fernando - bench big
Clint Capela - Top 10 center probably

They need a star wing before I start buying into their hype

I don't understand what the big deal is. It's bad enough fans give him shit for no reason. Why joke around with him concentrating on basketball. At least,he's engaged unlike most players his age.

If,he was one of those players not taking it seriously people would have an issue with it. Let him live.

Gottlieb seems to have developed a good relationship with Sexton. Is there any indication that she has
reached some of the other youngsters on the team in such a meaningful way?

From Fedor:

Sexton has also been filling the basketball void by watching film from the season with his dad and brother. At this point, he’s watched almost all 65 games. There are a few more left and plenty of time.

Assistant coach Lindsay Gottlieb has been sending video clips two or three times per week with discussion points -- a chance to go back and forth about what they’re seeing. In some ways, it’s a long-distance virtual session of those film breakdowns on Cleveland’s bench a little more than hour before tipoff every game.

Wow, great attitude for the young man. And kudos to coach Lyndsey, too.

Hoping he emerges from the quarantine with Kyrie-like handles.

There was an article in February saying Gottlieb been helping Sexton, Porter and Garland with their development....Everytime,someone talk to them about Gottlieb, those three give her very high praise for their development.

There haven't been articles about Garland and Porter doing the same thing but I wouldn't be shocked, if they were doing the same thing.

Those three are very hungry, especially Porter and Sexton.

Hoping he emerges from the quarantine with Kyrie-like handles.

While,he does need to work on his handles...He will never be that type of player in his career..imo..Sexton is a blue-collar player.

The article accurately says he was averaging 3.0 apg for the season when it ended. But it doesn't mention that with the exception of December, his apg increased every single month. It hit 4.1 apg in February, then 4.6 in March.

The kid is very clearly improving his distribution skills, and the massive film study he is putting in this offseason should help him to keep improving.
