I feel like the competition to get this team down to 53 is going to make or break a lot of the guys. Guys like Mack, Takitaki, Redwine etc, they have to improve or they will be gone pretty easily. Since we are looking to win now, Richardson on a team friendly deal is worth doing... Just the question is, how much does he want?

Browns are likely a top 5 team in the NFL now from a talent standpoint. I don't think any team wants to face them honestly...

If you take the QB out of the evaluation process, the Browns are the #1 roster in the NFL, and I'm not even sure it's close.

The entire front office has done a tremendous job revamping this roster.

One thing for sure this training camp: We will cut 1-2 players that we will think WTF??????? Curse of a talented team.

Mack Wilson will get cut and it will piss off a lot of the casuals on Twitter who are tricked into thinking he’s good because he says all the right things on Twitter.

The Tony Fields pick was so darn fun for that exact reason. It's like the front office said, "Oh, we don't value linebackers, Twitter? Looks like your mouth needs a second dick in it."

Browns are showing long term vision for new roles being created in Cleveland with this draft.

The Rover/Joker position on defense and the Jet position on offense.

Obviously, Rover/Joker is the JOK and Fields spot. Even someone like Harrison could play it in a pinch. While the Jet position is going to be Schwartz/Felton/Natson. They saw they needed speed on both sides and they are going to integrate it this year.

So let’s say joe woods sucks this year and gets fired. Which may happen there’s zero excuse for this defense to suck. And let’s say we hire zimmer who stefanski is very familiar with. Does JOK have a role in that defense or would we have to hire a very specific DC with a similar scheme to what woods runs but who runs it better?

If Woods gets fired we have serious issues. If that happens we are talking the team finishes 8-9 or worse. If THAT happens there are a few potential reasons: Several season ending injuries to major key players. Garrett, Ward to name a couple...... Draft picks and/or free agents don't pan out: Highly unlikely. Woods is not stupid, he can adapt............... I just don't see a scenario where Woods gets fired..............And if he does we are in deep, DEEP shit.

Exactly, when the opponent put together drives, some people jumped to blaming Woods. It was predictable in boring then, with all those backups playing, and it won't age well after a defensive draft. BTW - the other team will still put together a few touchdown drives. That's how football works.

I think JOK could maybe be a Anthony Barr linebacker, sure. He's not as good of a pass rusher, but I think Zimmer could figure something out that would work in his scheme. He's a brilliant defensive mind.

I think the Browns like a certain style on their defense. In particular, I think they want to stay with that Seahawks style defense. And seeing as how I think JOK plays pretty similar to a guy like Jamal Adams and how valuable Adams was in that Seahawks defense, we shouldn't be too worried about it.

That’s like asking what you should do if your dick falls off. I suppose it could happen, but I wouldn’t waste energy worrying about it, or on how to deal with the consequences.

Woods was a well-regarded coach when he came here a year ago. He came to a defense that had serious holes on it. Many of those holes went unfilled because the priority in FA/draft that offseason was the offense (Hooper, Conklin, Wills, etc.). Some of the players who were brought in on defense never played a down (Delpit, Billings, could include Greedy here though he was already on the roster).

Then toss in a global pandemic that took away almost all opportunity to properly install his system. Fewer/no practice reps, offseason camps, etc.

Apparently you’re expecting a coach who is so brilliant, he can succeed from day one despite all those obstacles?

Alright, let's play your game.

If Woods gets fired, that means that the team is best without him moving forward--basically he proved that he's incapable of successfully fulfilling the duties of Defensive Coordinator and that this is an issue that cannot be fixed moving forwards.

If we part ways with Woods, we get to show every possible DC candidate our roster, and all our talent. It's like Mufasa showing Simba the Sahara he can inherit from him.

In what world do you think we would choose to hire someone who doesn't think our talent can work with "his scheme"? If you're so stubborn that you only have one scheme, you're probably not a candidate for us. If you don't think this team, that's ready to compete for a title, fits with you, then you don't fit here.

It's that simple.

I think Mack Wilson sucks as much as the next guy which is sad bc I do really like the love he shows us, but I don't think he gets cut. We have a ton of high end talent but we still need good special teams bodies. Both he and Taki Taki had shown a willingness to get their hands dirty when called upon.

Numbers game.

Can't really envision a scenario where they keep more than 6 linebackers.

Walker, JOK, Phillips, M. Smith, Takitaki, Fields and Wilson makes 7. Someone's seemingly not going to make it. The only two guys of the 7 listed that weren't drafted/signed by Berry are Takitaki and Wilson. If I had to pick between the two, I'd pick Takitaki.
