2021 Around MLB: Return of the Dead Ball Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Move the mound back two feet.. or five feet.. it gives the hitter that additional split second to become aware of the pitch.. is what was proposed as a rule change to be tried in the minors.. It's not like the mound hasn't been altered in the past..
I think they could potentially make things even worse as we'd see pitches breaking even more.

Regardless, it's a tough sell to the player's union when arm injuries are already so prevalent.

Tampa is such a pesky team. The experts and projections seem to always rule them out and they still sometimes find a way to make it happen in that division which is a lot more difficult than ours. This isn't a dig on the Indians FO, we overperform our budget as well, more just cheering on kindred teams even though I have more personal connections to Yankees and Blue Jays.

It's nice to see a small market team able to compete in that division and they got the #1 prospect in MLB knocking on the door waiting to get the call (just traded Adames to make room for him).

Ahem... a request for prayers from everyone regarding this item tweeted about by Jeff Passan:

Tyler Zombro, a Triple-A pitcher for Tampa Bay who was hit by a line drive in an awful-looking incident earlier tonight, is in stable condition at Duke University Hospital, according to the team.
--------------------------------------------------------------

There is video of it on youtube and it is frightening. Guy started convulsing on the mound moments after the trainer got to him...
Consider yourself warned...

Game/ play was suspended right after it happened (8th inning).

Again, a request for prayers. Got a feeling this guy is not out of the woods yet..

Is there an argument for pitchers to not wear helmets with the caged face mask like I see on a lot of softball pitchers?

Update on Tyler Zombro (via Tampa Bay Rays/ JJ Cooper of Baseball America)

Update: On the morning of June 4, the Rays released a further update saying: "As of this morning, Tyler remains under the care of the nurses and doctors at Duke University Hospital. The updates from overnight have been positive, and he remains in stable condition. We are overwhelmed by the support for Tyler and the wishes for his full and speedy recovery from fans and the baseball community alike. We will provide additional updates as he progresses.”

If nothing else, Gary Sanchez will always be the double water bottle guy

I've posted Baseball Doesn't Exits videos of breakdowns of how pitchers are cheating vs what they have always been doing, with very little fanfare for some reason. Anyways, here's his latest.

A very interesting look at the ever evolving "stickey" stuff chess match between Bauer and MLB.

Bauer clearly has gotten out in front of the story yet again and put MLB on the defensive.

Just makes me laugh that he can continue to control the narrative and put the spot light on the commissioner and league.

I didn't have access to the entire article but Bauer going sticky-free in Atlanta seems to advance a case for making spin-rate the sole determiner of cheating. Chasing substances has never worked and never would work.

Thank you, Jup! Bauer has done every thing but spell it out for the Commish.

For those of you that get the humor in all this "stickiness", a very good read

Especially the comments on the throwing atlas stones and 3 true outcomes

Beyond the humor, this is the real deal. The elite spin rate changer is Spider Tack, nothing else comes close. For everyone who thinks it is some special concoction that is the best - NOPE - it is right off the shelf at Amazon. Ha Ha Ha

Comes in 3 different grades which is great. Because the stuff IS SO STICKEY that it is even hard to open the jars. Think taffey.

And the Spider Tack "heavy", you can't even use unless it is like 100+ down on the field. But damn that stuff is great when it is burning. YOWZER!!! the spin rates you can get on those days. :celb (7):

For @BimboColesHair that was guessing the other day about boiled down Coke/firm grip etc etc etc. for Bauer, Spider Tack is the stuff that the guys who really know how to spin it use. And Bauer has been the best of the best for awhile now when you look at spin rates
