2022 Season | Series #40 | Guardians @ Mariners | Aug. 25-28, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
People say we can’t match up with the Mariners I disagree, we should have easily split with them, or even taken 3 out of 4 , 1 bad pitch and game 1 and 4 , Really Bad defense and game 2 and 4 , and easy RBI chances in games 2 and 4 , along with bad base running in game 2……Game 2 definitely should have been a game we should have won…….lead off double in the top of the ninth, couldn’t score……smh
if it was easy, we prolly woulda done it - i was pretty impressed with seattle - they beat our 3 best starters - their ptichers otoh shut down our slappy offense --- as we're in a pennant race i'd just as soon face kc next weekend, but am looking forward to seeing the mariners again

Kwan can play 8, though it's not ideal.

He can Share 8 to good effect, provided we can find a plus 7.

Unfortunately, we do not have a proper leftfielder to job-share with Straw at this time. I think we are currently shaking the tree for one.

I envied that park as soon as it opened. In my opinion, the finest retro structure in MLB.
Do they still call it Camden, or have they sold the name yet? Perfect, nostalgic, modern, and possibly the best single Thing in Baltimore.
They call it Camden Yards, with great pride, and I can image they would name it after a sponsor, or that it would stick. Officially, it's called Oriole Park at Camden Yards, so they could call it WHATEVER Park at Camden Yards, and people would called it "Camden Yards".

Inner Harbor area, Johns Hopkins, and Camden Yards (still) only good things about Baltimore. Opened in 1992, Camden Yards was indeed the first retro stadium followed by countless others.
Inner Harbor sucks and is only for tourists - unless your favorite restaurant is Hooters.

There is lots good about Baltimore, but I always think of it as vaguely sad and evil, because: 1. It has almost as many murders as New York, with <10% of the population, and 2. They took our football team, drafted an accomplice to murder, and won Super Bowls.

Sadly, nobody calls our park "Jacob's Field" anymore, or "The Jake", for that matter.
Yes, it was named for the megalomaniac billionaire real estate tycoon who snapped up the team at bargain-basement prices, but it was Our Megalomaniac Billionaire real estate tycoon.
Dick Jacobs, wherever you are, you did us a solid. Have one on me.

HOK was the architect for both Camden Yards and Jacob's Field.. The two parks are, essentially (with some differences) mirror images of each other.. Both are very nice parks that have aged wonderfully for their fans...

Yet Camden Yards is considered iconic, and The Prog is considered ordinary... Why? Is it just the Warehouse?

The guy who painted the Mona Lisa.. get all the accolades due the iconic painting.. The guys/girls who have subsequently painted their versions of the DaVinci masterpiece.. have little to no standing...

Camden was the original...even though much of the construction was concurrent.. Many people actually believe the unforeseen disadvantages of seat positioning and viewing lines that were upgraded at Jacob's Field actually make it the "better park".. Some people say potato.. some say poh-tah-toe..

Not having ever seen Camden in person, I can accept that this is true. I haven't sat in every single seat or section of the Jake, but I haven't missed many either. There are a couple of spots I would avoid, but the contrast between the Jake and the Gray Lady on the Lake is simply biblical.
Mostly, Camden just takes a heluva photo.

Looking forward to the rematch against the Mariners in Cleveland this weekend. We'll see the same pitching matchups as the last two games plus Quantrill going against George Kirby. Runs should once again be very hard to come by.

The Prog looks like a cruise ship passing in the night. It was and is a nice ballpark, but it isn't Camden. The chasm between the upper deck and lower level due to the suites imo kind of ruins the look. I think if they extended the club seat level all the way around it would have both improved the look and brought more fans behind the plate and action.

Those 4 games were 4 of the most agonizing games we had all year. I look forward to a rematch like I look forward to surgery without anesthesia.

Four exciting games.

We split six games on the West Coast vs playoff teams. For the season we were 11-8 on our West Coast trips. I will take that every season.

We now play 24 of our last 36 games at home, where we have played .576 ball.

We are two games up on Minnesota, who play 21 of their last 36 on the road, and have played .450 ball away from Target.

Never judge a player on his best season, like many did with Biebers 12 starts in 2020. Never judge a player on his worst season, like many did (twice) with Jhonny Peralta...and are doing with Straw now. Most players revert back to their means.

Straw, even with a dastardly year at the bat, has been worth about 2.4 fWAR over 600 PAs in his career....and defense doesn't go into slumps.

So is Straw just cemented in there?

He’s gotta be the worst full time hitter in baseball.
