2022 Season | Series #40 | Guardians @ Mariners | Aug. 25-28, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
well, the fans arent the problem - thru 70 pa's benson looks like he's never hit in his life and freeman looks like he's never played the game before - but sss and still have hope for both
-
to be sure, we have stuck with some guys - miller's at 400 pa's and? gonzalez now at 200+ - shoot, and w/o getting into the board controversy, straw's at 400+ - have those guys shown to be future every day guys? maybe miller needs to spend time here in cbus to start '23 - wouldnt be the first guy to come thru in his third try - not sure what to think about straw with his 1400 pa's - hoping this is just an aberattionaly bad year - have no idea what to think of oscar
-
weird time with the roster, the want/need to look at new guys, oh and btw, the first place position heading into september
70 combined.. it's like 32 for Benson and 37 for Freeman.

Benson looked awkward there at AAA when I saw him and the results came so I wouldn't worry about appearance much as long as the job gets done which so far he hasn't but he hasn't really had a chance to get his feet under him.

The fans aren't the problem but if the fans managed the roster we'd be in a much worse situation due to the reactions to SSS. Benson was the savior before he looked bad in 20 PA now he isn't anymore. Arias was the savior until he sucked for a month in AAA. Whatever you want to say about Owen Miller. My point is just that managing this team with a steady hand is crucial and chances are we aren't going to find lightning in a bottle in Brennan or Arias or Valera or whoever the next ideas are, any more than we will in Benson or Freeman or whoever we have now. Oscar is meh IMO but at least he shows good contact skills and provides a bat from the right side similar to Rosario.

White Sox lose again and are still six games out and fading fast. The Twins win and pull to within three. They're not going away.

They found lightning in a bottle with OGon and Kwan, what are we, 2-6? Palacios, NoJo, Benson, Freeman.

Even if NoJo is an average league bat, we'll take it. Stick Kwan in CF. Straw doesn't deserve full time action anymore. Very curious how we use the Sept. promotions.

I'd like to know what you base this on? While I can't say that Brennan will be productive if/when called up, I'm certain he'll touch the baseball a helluva lot more than Benson. I haven't given up on Benson at all, I really like his potential, but he's not ready.

Brennan should have been up a month ago, but the 40 man roster and who's already on it made him a non-option which I think is dumb. Brennan as our CFer most likely makes us a better team. Maybe significantly because Straw is a burden.

Whatever happens I'm not overly concerned tbh. These things will happen at some point and going forward this team is going to continue to get better because guys like Straw and Hedges will be replaced with better, younger, more talented players. I prefer to just move forward with the inevitable.
If you look at what he's done in AAA it just isn't at the level of Benson or Jones in terms of production. Look at basically any stat besides raw AVG, whether it is SLG, OBP, OPS, wRC+, you name it, Benson and Jones and even freaking Palacios and Trenton Brooks have outhit Brennan. And Benson can play CF too... Hell I sort of laughed at the idea of bringing Valera up but you can throw him in the mix and he's on the 40 man.

Edit: I guess Brennan does have Brooks beat on OBP

I envied that park as soon as it opened. In my opinion, the finest retro structure in MLB.
Do they still call it Camden, or have they sold the name yet? Perfect, nostalgic, modern, and possibly the best single Thing in Baltimore.
Inner Harbor area, Johns Hopkins, and Camden Yards (still) only good things about Baltimore. Opened in 1992, Camden Yards was indeed the first retro stadium followed by countless others.

Yeah personally I'd give Benson some more looks and if NoJo is still crushing it in AAA they can swap places down the stretch but if he's able to provide the league average kind of offense then that has value on our roster, completely agreed. NoJo's inability to play CF is a bit of a problem though.

People say we can’t match up with the Mariners I disagree, we should have easily split with them, or even taken 3 out of 4 , 1 bad pitch and game 1 and 4 , Really Bad defense and game 2 and 4 , and easy RBI chances in games 2 and 4 , along with bad base running in game 2……Game 2 definitely should have been a game we should have won…….lead off double in the top of the ninth, couldn’t score……smh

Having paid attention to Jessie Aguilar how bad has he been, can we strike lighting for 1 month with him, change of scenery? Playing for a first places team maybe get him excited ?……I know any move a player have to be on the active roster before the first to be eligible for the playoffs ?…..unless he’s a injury replacement?

They both got consistent playing time right away, I believe Oscar started the first 5/6 games when he came up……
So how about bringing up Brennan and let him play every day? Problem solved. Myles Straw might make one or 2 plays that Brennan won't make from now to the end of the season. So does it make any sense at all to put Straw in the nine hole? No it doesn't. Don't understand how upper management can stomach watching that crap.

Trust me I don’t mind having someone else patrol CF not name Straw, I wouldn’t mind seeing Kwan out there for 7 innings or so and let Palacios or Jones/Benson get those ab, in then do a Defense replacement and put Straw in the last 2 inning or so…..I just don’t see Brennan being anything better then what we have not name Straw or I’m sure the FO would have brought him up already,
