Fine player but I am always the contrarian. Not, a big fan of the Brito or Culver moves because as you alluded to they are for talent over roster fit. Talent acquisition is good for teams like Pitt (so do they care if they have XX OFs/SS/3B)? They shouln't care due to where they are (so why trade now). But, we should be in the molding phase. How can we set up for a 24/25/26 run. Triolo would be blocked by Ramirez at his natural position 3B and blocked by Arias/Rocchio at SS. Will he be an upgrade over Miller? Probably. Yet, is he an upgrade over Arias or Freeman? He can play OF but we got guys who can do that was well if given the opportunity.
In the end, I get Brito and Culver if they were just trying to get talent to be flexible trading later in a week or two timeframe before 40-man Rule 5 set date. But, in the end, we need to see how this team is now molded
For me, the holes we have in this organization are
3B in 3-4 year when Ramirez needs more days off at DH -- assume Arias/Freeman and others can do it for ST 1-2 days off a week
RH OF/1B to play role with Noel (one should make it)
Catcher role at AA level this year (and someone at MLB level w Naylor w Lava at AAA)
Flame throwing reliever at A levels to take over for Stephan/Kar/Hedges when they hit FA level
And, yes we do have players, not long for Cleveland -- Miller, Benson, Gaddis, Pilk, Rosario, Plesac, Civale (and most of these players may not be on 2024 roster for likes of Burns, Allen, Espino, Hankins, .....) But, who would be removed this year for a 40-man spot? I think we got too many who cannot start already on 40 than to try to hide a few more. You need Miller, Palacios, Benson and Pilk as they are day 1 AAA back-ups till mid-season when Rocchio, Tena, Valera, Lavastida, Allens are about ready. You are assuming we are already trading Tena, Curry, Allen, Rocchios for catcher or 1B but what are the odds of that happening (less than 50% for me - at least that clears up more than 1 space -- the minor trades).
