Dodgers aren't getting Bieber unless they give up two solid SP prospects, Vargas plus maybe Galiz and Frasso/Nastrini etc... Cleveland has no reason to lower their price and they won't. He's not going anywhere anyways...

..that would be a nice return.. and one that could be worth it to the CleFO to consider.. all four guys can play.. if the Dodgers strike out with getting one of the four SS's.. then Amed can be considered as well. The LAD have made it clear.. they want a SS.. not LUX.. Good deal..

When Antonetti said we are keeping Bieber though, that took essentially getting Vargas in 23 out of the question in my mind. I think Dodgers will end up leaning on Vargas to replace some ABs... Even if we are out of contention at the trade deadline, we are going to less for Bieber and I don't see any combination of deal within reason for both teams that will help Cleveland in 23 more than the Dodgers one right now.

Now we don't know every single prospect in every single place, but teams who are going to want Bieber are contenders and aren't going to give up main cog MLB guys to get Bieber so it's mostly going to be prospects and/or blocked MLB players we get in return. Hard to expect a return that way to help in 23.

I expect Dodgers would still be the best suitors mid season since they can develop players fairly well. Hence why I said Bieber is playing for Cleveland or the Dodgers in 23...

Not really as he's a LHH... but he's got a great approach and bat.. the kind of offensive game that you make room for.. it's that good..

Are we overvaluating Plesac? I know he has 3 years of control left, but was worth -0.8bWAR in 2022 and noted "issues"..

We all know how valuable pitching is, but where that value intersects with getting him the hell out of here...Might be a little underwhelming. Guess we will see, I'm open to almost anything here.

If dealing with Texas, Garver has to be involved I think. Could end up a multi piece/massive deal. Texas is probably weary of us though.

@CDAV45 Eric Lauer could be alright... He's a lefty, which we could use no matter what. Definitely better than Plesac. Not an advocate or detractor, but would think we could do "better"..

Thank god he didn't say this a year ago, I wouldn't have been able to take it...

Cleveland has the pieces to get him, but the question mark is when is Pittsburgh willing to move him? If they do, what are they after in a deal?

BTV has Reynolds at 59... I would also like to pick of the kid Triolo... Problem is the Pirates don't want to pick up a lot on the 40 man if they can help it, but they do need to upgrade the pitching.

Pittsburgh gets SP Williams, OF Gonzalez, SP Allen, 2B/OF Palacios, SP/RP Gaddis...

Could you guys live with that?

Also I wonder if Triolo is available... I would gladly try to trade Palacios plus an arm like Gaddis etc for him...

@Tondo what do you know about Jared Triolo... He went in the second round in 19... He is blocked in Pittsburgh for 3B, but seems like he has been playing SS and CF as well. I'd be using him as an utility guy and he is a RH bat...

With Kwan's emergence I am pretty much a pass on Reynolds now. The Pirates don't really seem to be shopping him yet, but would surely take an offer they couldn't refuse/massive haul.. They might have gotten Espino out of me last year, but now?? Prospect capital would be better spent elsewhere I think.

I'm pretty set with a OF of OGonz, Kwan, Straw, Brennan and Benson for now. Plus Valera is on deck, Noel could factor in down the road and we still have Palacios... Would love to add another righty to the mix, but think it could be done a lot cheaper or creatively.. Mitch Haniger or even Wil Myers for example. Save those prospects to buy a battery.

I saw a deal that said Murphy to Jays, Jansen to Cleveland and prospects to Pirates (Valera to Pittsburgh)...

I decided to modify it some....

Cleveland gets
C Jansen (Tor)
3B/Util Triolo (Pit)

Toronto gets
OF Murphy (Pit)
SP Plesac (Cle)

Pittsburgh gets
SS Rocchio (Cle)
SP Curry (Cle)
SP Tiedemann (Tor)
SP Tulueta (Tor)
SS Kasevich (Tor)

So we lose Curry, Plesac and Rocchio and get Jansen and 3B/Util Triolo... on BTV it works almost perfect...

Thoughts?

While it may be a fait accompli.. including Rocchio to the Pirates when they have Oneil Cruz as their current and long term SS.. doesn't address one of their most urgent needs. The ETA as ready for MLB by Rocchio is correct. Someone with a similar ETA that doesn't play on the left side of the infield seems to be a higher need. Bullpen and Starting Pitching, also work..

W/R to the return.. It seems as if Triolo would only need to buy a shovel and move across the diamond.. His versatility and approach is pretty solid..

As the deal is stated.. (3 for 2) is an acceptable transaction, but, may be more readily improved upon by any competition in a deal..

..then you would know that Nick Gonzales followed by Termarr Johnson would be the next up at that spot..

Do we need Zavala?

Yes, because he's a good (and currently undervalued) hitter. College, minors, AFL, dude has a 400+ OBP, it's a trend.

Doesn't need rostered until 2024. We went from having no OF to too much OF options in one year, who the hell knows what that landscape looks like after the next 2 seasons. Zavala is a talent, you add talent. That's it. I also like the other 3 names, especially Church as near ready RP option. I'd do the deal for Zavala and one of the P, but looking at the SP cost, we can and should ask for more. None of those guys is considered a top 5 or even top 10 prospect in the TEX system
