2009-2010 Season: Mike Brown's Player Rotation Chart:

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
JaMario should take all of Gibson's minutes.

Gibson plays zero defense. His offense isn't that great either. Wasting our time playing him considering a contender will shut him down completely.

Give West the backup pg minutes, Moon should be playing with West, Z, and JJ off the bench. Gibson should be the 10th man.

No.

Contenders may look to shut Gibson down, but if Moon's in the game, it won't even matter. They'll ignore him and shut our better options down.

Moon's length will help against teams like Orlando and L.A. for stretches.

Gibson should really only play with LeBron, but when we're playing small, or we're spacing the floor for LeBron..having a dead-eye shooter like Boobie out there, who's proven he can hit big shots in big moments, is invaluable.

Just look at some of these championship teams lately. They all have a three point gunner off the bench who can stroke it from downtown, even if they have one in their starting lineup, that guy off the bench is always useful. (Lakers: Shannon Brown, Vujacic, Farmar...whoever doesn't suck on the night they're playing, Boston: Eddie House, 2005-2006 Miami: Damon Jones).

Moon is only truly useful backing up 'Bron at the 3. His rotation minutes have nothing to do with Gibson's.

And while Gibson isn't the greatest defender(he doesn't really have the physical tools), he's pesky and can play some okay full-court press defense and he can pick some pockets here and there.

I guess I don't see why so many people are against a guy who's shooting 47% from beyond the arc(and will likely shoot 41+% over the year) playing on a team with LeBron James and Shaquille O' Neal.

Jamario and Gibson can both shoot with range but it's really hard to objectively say that Jamario Moon defends guards or improves the ball movement more than Gibson. Gibson can dribble up the floor and pass some. Jamrio can't do either of those things. And while Jamrio is an active man to man defender, it's been pretty clear to me so far this season that he's not on the same page as the rest of the team with his defensive spacing and help assignments. Gibson's not the most physically gifted defender, but even since he was a rookie, he's done a good job of understanding where coach wants him to be and putting himself there.

Gibson and Jamario fill different roles on the team and that's probably best summed up by saying that one's a guard and the other is a forward. Subbing Jamario for Gibson doesn't help the team any more than subbing Gibson for Jamario. And untilk Jamario stops being on the Drew Gooden level of help defense, He's not going to see regular minutes at Forward either.

Anyone else wonder why we sub out a guy when he starts to get hot?

Boobie was on fire in the 2nd quarter and Brown subs him out, this is a case where you stay with the hot hand.

At the end of one of the Quarters, we subbed out one of our best shooters (Mo) for some reason?

As for Moon and Gibson, they play different positions. And Boobie when he plays off the ball has played very well this year so far. His defense yesterday was very good. I would like to see an occasional lineup of

West-
Mo/Gibson-
Moon-
Lebron-
Shaq/Z/Andy.

I've been becoming more and more impressed with Boobie on D. He really did give fits to Zero last night, and when he's on fire from deep like he was, he's a very strong piece of the core of this rotation. Hell, he even had that one rebound where he grabbed the board and in the same motion kissed it sweetly off the backboard for a very nice putback. I was really down on Boobie for his ball handling and PG distribution skills, but he has shown a marked improvement in taking the ball to the hole and his man-to-man D this year. It's good to see his hard work is paying off. I'm still very pessimistic about his PG skills, but it was nice to see him sort of find his role/niche. If Delonte and Mo can stay in the lineup this year, Boobs may just end up being another dagger for this squad like he was in years past(pre 2008-09). Props Boobs:thumbup:

Now I've added a new rotational chart for "Comeback wins". The situation called for it, as the Cavs got down early on but made a comeback in the last 3 quarters. Looks like the Twin Towers was effective this time around, huh ;)?

Cavaliers notebook: Brown is settling on a player rotation
By George M. Thomas

MIAMI: Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said today that he's starting to get a feel for his rotation, something that's been in flux since the start of training camp.

''It's been evident the last two games,'' Brown said. ''I'm starting to feel comfortable with the different pieces and parts to this team and I'm starting to be able to mix them on the fly.''

The Cavs have won five of their last six games and the offense has flowed better. The Cavs have scored 100 or more points in four of those games, including Wednesday night's win over the Orlando Magic.

But issues remain.

The primary one is the continuing saga of Delonte West, the troubled, talented and inactive guard.

West, missed both the game against the Magic and today's game against the Miami Heat because of a matter that the team is handling internally.

Although the Cavs won't go into details as to why West missed the two games, he missed the team's charter flight to Orlando Tuesday night.

West's absence alters any rotation that Brown can come up with, but the coach is not worried about it.

''In my mind, I have a way to go if he's active and a way to go if he's not active,'' Brown said. ''So I'm good either way.''

Brown sounds as if he's ready to minimize the use of centers Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Shaquille O'Neal on the floor together.

''For the most part, they probably won't play together unless the matchups really warrant it and I felt it did when they had [Marcin] Gortat and Dwight [Howard] on the floor together,'' Brown said of the game against the Magic.

Brown said the Ilgauskas-O'Neal pairing will likely make another appearance.

''There may be times when we have to go that way against the Lakers or against Portland or a couple of other teams like that,'' he said.
