2009 NBA Draft Preview

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd take Jerome Jordan, he's got size and defense, something we lack in the post. He's a great shot blocker, and is improving offensively, has a nice jumphook already.

He could be a steal, and since there's less and less 7 footers in the league, you need to grab on to guys like him, they could be the difference makers.

For were we are in the draft Terrance Williams would be nice. Great passer, defender, ball handler but can shoot at all. Hopefully he can get a respectable jumper eventually.

I also like Dionte Christmas from Temple. Look him up.

Ummm, cite a source?

During the game, announcers hinted that he will test the waters. He has been in college two years already.

I don't have an internet source, I just know that I heard it. Mills was great over the Olympics, but plenty have called him disappointing this season. He got injured, and that turned his stock, and he wants to improve his stock back up to Mid First or even Lottery. He may "test" the waters by being an early entrant, and going to the workouts, but some players do that, then drop out when they realize their stock. Unless he really impresses over the workouts, I can't see him staying all the way through.

Why are people talking about undersized PFs?

The Cavaliers need center size and an athletic wing that can play SG.

Cavs drafted a pair of 6'7" PF's last year. There is no need to do that again, especially with a number of undersized PFs available as free agents next summer. Well, there is no need to draft that unless there is clearly a better talent on the board. And usually talent with a good work ethic doesn't drop that far in the draft.

Center size and an athletic wing are spot on what the Cavs would be looking for, with more emphasis on the "Center size" part. The team knows they need youth with size in the front court. Should be an easy year to move up in the draft if Gilbert is willing to pay. Think Mullins.

JJ's listed at 6'9 just about everywhere i can find, and usually looks like he's right there with LeBron in height.

Jerel McNeal....

I'm a huge Jerel fan, but it seems like a big stretch to take him in the first round, when we could just trade as little as a scrub, future pick, or cash for a pick to draft him.

We need a 7 footer, no if ands, buts or maybes. We need height with defense, actually we need height with offense. Brown knows how to teach D, but offense is not his forte.

Jerome Jordan, and Tyler Hansbrough(I think he can be a really good role-player in the NBA, and he's got a tremendous heart/motor/desire to win)

Those are the two guys I have my eye on now.

Hansbrough is too much of a risk and has too low of a ceiling to use a first round pick on. I agree Jerome Jordan would be nice to get.

For me i dont want to draft a big man just to draft a big man. I dont want to lose an opportunity at a good SG because we needed to draft a big that may not even be with the team next year. It seems unlikely there will be a good big man available when we draft, but there is a really good chance a SG like Terance Williams and other good big athletic SG's will be available when we draft.

HERE IS TERANCE WILLIAMS

Our pick is going to essentially be a 2nd rounder. Hansbrough might not even drop down to us.I'd take Jordan first, but if he's gone...and Tyler's there..I take him.

It all depends on what scouts think he can do to his game to be productive in the NBA. Maybe if he slimmed down, and improved his shot, he could be a productive 3 off the bench who could play the 4 in small-ball, kind of like Wally Szczerbiak(probably not as good of a shooter) but with the ability to jump and move his feet and become a very good defender. Maybe even play the 2 in ultra-defensive lineups if he improves his foot-speed enough.

Now, I'm not saying it will happen, but just taking any athletic freak with a big body is just as likely to be a bust, and if anyone out of this draft class had the will and work ethic to change his game like that, it's Tyler Hansbrough.

Is there to the players of draft 09?(i had one bookmarked but i deleted)

I would like to get a decent C...Unfortunately he wouldnt get much mins next yr

We have enough guards in mo,west, boobie, kinsey, pav

Terrence Williams is a horrific shooter. Just painfully bad. That alone takes him out of consideration for me.

The Cavaliers tried to pair an athletic, multidimensional SG that couldnt shoot with James.....

didnt work out so well.

The more I see Jerome Jordan the more I see a T.A.T.A. For a 22 year old junior he should be much further along in his development. I question his motor and I think he would be a bigger project than Hickson.
