2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What would the Bills have to give up to give us that point value that the Colts got?

The "fair" deal is 4 (1800) for 12 (1200) and 22 (780). That's within 180 points.

To match the value Indianapolis just got, Buffalo would need to kick in their 2019 1st OR 53 and 56 this year.

Would love to get Buffalo's 12/21 and try to squeeze out another premium asset as well (get our 3rd back?). Sure, you may not be able to grab a top tier non-QB prospect at 12 but once the "elite" QBs are off the board (I don't think Allen and Mayfield are elite but is clear that some FOs do given the Jets trade), the premium to trade back up to get one of those guys should be much lower.

If we were able to get 12,21 and our 3rd back (65), in theory we should be able to find a taker to trade up from #12 to #7-#8 by only giving up 64 or 65 at worst.

That way we get our QB at #1, our elite non-QB prospect at #7 or #8, and have effectively moved up from #64-#65 to #21 without losing anything.

I just don't want to drop down to 12. We need elite talent. The #4 pick dropped in our lap, take the BPA.

If the Browns could get 12, 22 and Buffalo’s 2019 1st for 4, they could then turn around and flip 12 and 22 to Indy for 6, snag Ward and still have a second first rounder in place next year.

Could be a pretty high 1st too, with McCarron or a rookie under center for them...

The Colts bent the Jets over a freaking log....

Squeal like a piggy!

Yea, you add the 2019 1st and I would do that. That deal is too good to pass up. Minus the 2019 1st, I stay at 4 and pick my player.

I wouldn’t mind if somehow we pulled a Winslow move and got Denver to trade a 2nd to move up 1 spot, but I’d want to coupled with still being able to take the Bills out to the log (squeal piggy) and squeeze 12, 22 and next years first.

If we can get another 2nd round pick, I’d take someone with our first 2nd rounder and try to trade the second one for someone’s first next year (so we can keep the party going). We can only have so many rookies and it would be good to try to leverage the market and generate more capital than we already have moving forward all while picking actual talented Football players that can be building blocks for the future. With the below 6 picks, you hope that at least 4 hit with most importantly #1 being our franchise QB for the next 10-15 years.

#1
#12
#22
#33
#40
#64

Only do trade with Bills if a 2019 1st is involved otherwise take BPA.
Try to trade #35 for 2019 1st

Take chances and be aggressive with remaining picks.

I know this shit won’t happen. I’d imagine we’d be active if moves are made since we already have so much draft capital.

Agrees Phills. I think Chubb is the guy you don't trade down for. Now Fitz I will think about it but I wouldn't take Barkley with the option to trade down. To many RBs later in draft that are close enough to Barkley.

worth watching if you have a couple minutes. Closer look JL and TT

Or.....just hear me out.....take an elite player at 4.

I know it's different but it needs to happen. I dont think Dorsey wants too many rookies. He wants to win now.

It’s not necessarily an either or situation. Let’s say for arguments sake that the Browns top 3 choices at 4 are Chubb, Fitzpatrick and Ward.

The Bills want to move up for a QB. 4 might be their best chance. Price might be too high for them to go all the way up to 2. Ergo the Browns have a good bit of leverage over the Bills to find a deal in their favor.

At the exact same time, the Browns can and should be negotiating with Denver at 5, Indianapolis at 6, Tampa at 7 and Chicago at 8 to see if they’d be willing to slide back from their spot to 12.

Since there’s less leverage for those teams (Cleveland wouldn’t be desperate to move up like Buffalo is), the Browns could move down to 12 and then back up to 5-8, still land one of the guys on their short list from pick 4, and pay less than what they received to move down.

For some reason people think trading down means the Browns would be locked into the 12th pick and that’s just obviously not the case.

With yesterday's trade, we are likely going to have our pick of the top QB in the draft and top position player that isn't a QB. That's just crazy. I agree with Phillis in that I'm usually in favor of trading down, but thats damn tempting.

I think the chances to get the top non-QB player at 4 will be tempting for some teams. If the Browns are deadset on Ward/Fitz rather than Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson, I'd take the chance and trade down a few spots if the price is right. Worst case scenario, Ward and Fitz are off the board and you still get to pick from Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson....Not a horrible consolation prize.
