2019 Browns Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh wow! Now we have "INDIANS FAN ONLY" chiming in. Awesome.

I mean it's not like this area has an insane amount of football culture related to it. OH NO. We're just dummies.

...

I think a lot of people (including myself) were expecting like a 26-14 sort of game.

And honest to god? The reputation around this franchise doesn't exactly lend itself to patience. I don't blame them. It's been hell.

People were probably expecting the 1999 St. Louis Rams on offense and some sort of "Fearsome Foursome" or "Purple People Eaters" like effort on defense.

Well...it takes a while to build something. You have the parts. The execution is the tricky part of it.

You can either wallow around in pity or get to work.
I mean he ain’t wrong, but why even bring this up in here?

The 17 penalties was Hue Jackson esque. It’s like he came back to haunt us all.
This team quit, was ill prepared, and unprofessional yesterday. The cheap shots and penalties were embarrassing. That to me is far more concerning than simply needing some time to get in rhythm with each other.

I’m most disappointed in Kitchens. Talk is cheap. There are still 9-10 winnable games. But this was a winnable game until the implosion after the 3Q TD.

Maybe less commercials, SI Covers and “We’re here” articles until you make the playoffs guys. Sample size of one, but Week 2 is a must win or the playoff dreams are gonna be in serious jeopardy.

Lost in the million penalty yards, not being able to convert 3rd & Short on Drives 3 and 4 was pretty killer. Offense really seemed to lack rhythm and Baker never seemed comfortable in the pocket.

Hopefully CJ Mosley can't go on Monday night. The Jets defense looked lost when he left the game.

They were throwing for it on 2nd and 3rd and short way too much. Too much 11 personnel when their tackles arent good. For all the talk about how bad RG is, Kush was solid and even did some things in the running game today.

Again when it came all together today for brief spurts, the Browns looked every bit the juggernaut people think they could be. But when they were getting 1st and 20 or 25, or the tackles were getting toasted, the game was unwatchable as most games would be.

They can still save it. Hell, they have the ability to unleash hell on the Jets next monday. Or they could fold and be extremely bad. I still believe Kitchens and the team can save this season.

No teams can be successful when they are consistently facing 1st and 20 or 3rd and 15 and consistently handing their opponent 1st downs with defensive penalties, aside from huge chunk plays.

The chunk plays and sacks they gave up are obviously huge concerns, but the Titans also might be better than they were given credit for. They may have just faced a team that’s going to win a playoff game.

I want to see a game where they are penalized less than 75 yards and what they can do with that.

It’s literally one week man

Exactly this. Have to give them the second game. It's ok to be frustrated and upset after the mess of week 1, but need another data point. If they have 10+ penalties and poor play calling again next Monday, we may have hired the wrong guy. It's a real shame we kept Hue in 2018 and didn't make a hard run at Vrabel. Ohio guy, Buckeye, Patriot Way, winner, SB champ, etc. Titans will be a solid team for the next decade.

I’ll preface this thought with the obvious — I have mo experience coaching an NFL team, let alone children.

In my observation and some others may have commented on this — but, it seems like we offensively moved away from what made us successful with Freddie calling plays last year. Specifically, short timing routes, screens and creative running formations. Now, the insane amount of penalties will lead to longer routes, however, it almost seems like what made Baker unsuccessful under Hue were the empty sets and 10-15 yard routes taking too long to develop was the outcome yesterday. This was also magnified with the atrocious O-Line play, but, the first drive displayed quick screens, runs and open space — maybe this was a representation of what the plan was supposed to look like.

Obviously the score dictates the plan, but it seemed they were knocked off the course early and never caught a rhythm.

That is my .002 cents and I have to admit, I had never been more excited for a game and I am still shocked at how much of a shit show that was. Additionally, it seems there were several lopsided wins and I would venture to say SEVERAL teams will look different week 2. Some teams played higher than their actual ceiling and i believe the Browns and several others played well below their talent level. I am curious to see who comes back to earth and who rises up to the challenge.

Don’t understand talking about “saving the season” after one week

The browns will be fine September is the new pre season

They lost game 1 by 30 points and committed a near team record of penalties.

Call it whatever you'd like. But they need to get on a playoff track and there was some things to be concerned about
