2019 MLB Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I haven’t been this sad to see a player traded since I was 8 years old, and my dad told me the Indians traded Lofton to Atlanta.
I started reading your post and thought about the last time I was sad an Indians player was traded.

Lofton before '97 was the only one I could come up with.

You nailed it.

Hey... we brought him back a year later... :detective:

I was sad for Baerga. Not nearly as talented or likable, but he was the reason I was playinf 2nd base.

Until I was exposed to Robbie Alomar. Hot Damn!

Bauer for Puig is like trading locker room mesothelioma for locker room leukemia.

I was ecstatic when I heard that Tribe traded for Justice, he was my favorite player growing up, only to start crying when Dad told me it was for Lofton. Thank god the Grissom experiment was short lived and Kenny came back. Loved those 90s teams as a kid. So damn exciting

I don't believe Cookie will be back this year.

Your take here on treatment and recovery time is not accurate whatsoever. The treatment, timetable, and impact vary wildly with each specific case. "Leukemia" is a wide brush.

It’s not that inaccurate. I’m basing my assumption on him getting the best treatment available and the timetable with those treatments if everything goes great. You’re right though that there are a lot of factors involved, especially considering that we don’t know any of the details. The time frame I posted is a general average recovery time considering he’s a top athelete and would need to be at optimal form before he can return. Also, that Leukemia brush isn’t all that wide in this situation. I will say that I promise you that if he started his treatment around the time it was announced that he was leaving the team then there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY he returns this year. He just won’t.

My best friend’s favorite player was Baerga, so I can empathize.

EDIT: Nick... is that you?

The fact is they caught the condition when it started, kind of means that it could shorten the time table of recovery. I think if Carrasco needed to pitch technically I think he could get back on the mound, but he lacks the strength and endurance he normally would have so they want to wait until he is stronger again. I think personally he should be ready for next season, just we do not know if he will be able to take the workload of a starter, but he should be back on the mound way before you project him to be.

I don’t want this to turn into some long tangent since this has little to do with this thread, so I’m just going to leave it that I stand by my assumption that he won’t be pitching professionally again for at least 8 months.
