2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
While I see the value in moving Love for 4. I just have a hard time seeing it from the Cavs side. You basically are punting on the season ( I know we will be bad anyways) and give the casual fan no "star" type player to come to a game and watch. Unless the Cavs think the updated arena will draw in fans it will be a bad year for ticket sales. The only positive to a move like this is we could be players next summer in FA, or have a ton of cap space to gain assets. I really think Sexton, Cedi and who ever we draft at 5 and 26 would gain a lot from playing with Love. With how wide open the league is this year, if Love does get out to a hot start his value may go up.

I am definitely bias, but last year when Love was not playing the team was unwatchable, when he came back, I actually enjoyed watching the Cavs.

You don't make moves to try to bring in fans It doesn't work. What brings in fans is winning The Cavs need to make the moves they believe will make the team the best long term One of those moves is trading Love. If that trade was proposed, and there wasn't a better offer, they should 100% make the trade.

We still have other picks in this draft (#26).

In my opinion, it's extremely difficult to devote the time, resources, and attention required to develop 3 lottery guys. Not to mention court time and simultaneous contract situations.

I think you take your top two--the one's you really truly believe in versus settling for one of them--and then we can grab a project or a stash player later in the round with that other pick.

I'd feel much better knowing that we took our shot at the top two players that our front office identified.

If we pass on someone higher on our board in a trade down--and that guy ends up better than the guy we took--that was a poor move.

If an NBA team can't develop multiple young players, then every person in the organization should be fired How many coaches and staff does an NBA team have? I bet the ratio of staff to players is better in basketball than any other sport.

I’d love to see a draft day deal for Steven Adams. He’s a monster. 25M and 27M the next two years wouldn’t kill us we’re not spending that money anyway. Our defense would improve greatly and he’s got a good offensive game.

I wouldn't I don't want us to be good enough next year that we don't get a top 5 (or so) pick.

Pelicans are drooling over getting Garland. I think the top 5 is pretty set unless somebody blows off the Cavs socks and I doubt they will.

I think Cavs either trade down or take someone shocking (Cameron Reddish or Coby White). I am not sure I buy into the De'Andre Hunter love, also not sure on Cavs and Jarrett Culver. We hired a coach and surrounded him with people to help develop talent. They need to take a swing for the fences with upside at 5.

Brad Daugherty, Ron Harper, Hot Rod Williams (not a lottery pick but only because of the Tulane Frame-up).

We also developed Mark Price. In fact only two players on that roster were over 26 (Hubbard and Poquette).

I'd love to have a problem where we had three lottery picks that all worked out.

I haven’t seen that. If the Pelicans pick Garland, that would give them 3 point guards, with holiday, ball, and garland. I know Holiday can play both guard spots, so maybe that would be their thinking?

Long term Garland is a perfect fit next to Lonzo. Lonzo can run the offense the majority of the time but guard the opposing shooting guards. Garlands a knock down shooter and can get his own shot. Lonzo built like a SG but is best as a facilitator. Garland plays like a undersized 2 Guard. Perfect fit because Garland can guard PG's and play SG, Lonzo can play PG and guard SG's.

Besides, Holiday is toast there anyway. Having Ball,Garland and of course Zion as your young base is a nice rebuild.

Ignoring Ingram who improved nicely last year. And Hart really isn't a bad long term bench piece.
