2019 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thinking out loud here. Lamar Jackson. Dude is killing it, making things happen, winning, putting up points. Whatever. Is it more Lamar or is it more Romans system?
I was talking to a buddy the other day about Kaep and I remembered who his OC was and then I started thinking about this. Heard it again on Fox Sports Radio this morning.
How much is his success him or Romans system and knowing how to use him.
Could all this success get Roman a HC job this offseason???

I believe he was also the OC when Tebow was blowing up as well. He knows how to get the most out of running QBs.

Don't think Lamar's success is all on him, but they certainly hired the right man for the job.

Watching the Ravens post game stuff, pretty obvious how genuine that culture is and what they’ve built.

Culture stuff really isn’t that hard, but this is sort of where I actually believe in stuff like “it factor” comes into play.

Has nothing to do with any sort of clutch gene, but just a genuine ability to understand how winners operate and what it takes to succeed from an organizational perspective.

The Browns are lacking here.
I don't disagree but it's definitely easier to get guys to buy in and to support each other during a winning streak and while things are going well. Guys are in good moods, working harder, and riding momentum.

It all starts with the head coach and it's no coincidence that "culture" usually runs parallel to winning.

I mean, Gruden was a historically bad drafter in his previous stints as a HC/GM.

Ruthlessly bad, and obsessed with some of the things that seem pretty antiquated by any modern standard.

Interested to see his go forward progress, but his work there has been admirable and well beyond my expectations.

I'll just say that their drafting hasnt been great. They hit on lower round guys and Gruden did a great job of turning around Derek Carr. But Kolton Miller is terrible and Ferrell has been awful. Now Jacobs has been really good and Abrams has been fine, but the rest have been not great. Getting guys like Hurst and Maxx Crosby has made the difference right now.

Trading Mack was still a miserable decision. Keep him and trade Cooper, that team might be a SB contender right now.

I see that the Chargers OC rivals are own in sheer stupidity.

3rd and 5 deep in their own territory late in the game and they run Austin Eckler up the middle into a stacked box.

Bravo.

Rivers is a fucking disaster.

Dude had Henry open for the 1st and throws deep into double coverage... again for an INT.

And that fucking cocksucking sack of shit just cost me the playoffs in two different fantasy leagues.

Phillip Rivers has been down 1 score with 2 or less minutes left every week since 2005

Fucking disaster. He was fucking awful.

And those weren't tough luck, Baker type INTs, he made awful choices and terrible throws.

I ended up winning by .2 points thanks to that last Hunter Henry reception. But that is the thinnest of ice for corrections.
