2019 Series #41 | Indians @ Mets | August 20th, 21st, and 22nd

Then here's a quote from trading you should know: 'From failed moves, come fast moves'

Again, this really only makes sense if you're charting an equity, but it mostly means, if a stock doesn't move above/below a 'target line' (based on TA) it typically fails and fails hard. I know humans aren't stocks, but there has to be an 'opportunity cost' factored in to having a starting pitcher who already won two Cy Young's for you. Not everyone is going to win 500 games.

And nobody is going to pretend playoff sample size is transitive YoY.

Thats ridiculous. Its not like they have the 95 Tribe lineup, or you know, the 27 Yankees. Their pitching is shit though and they will get exposed bad in the Playoffs. Those kinds of teams always do.

I remember this happening during the late 90s Tribe dynasty.

The 2019 Twins Runs Scored, Runs Allowed, overall record, and one run game and blowout winning % is closely lining up with the 1996 Indians stats.

The Indians pitching wasn't bad compared to the rest of the league, but was somewhat weak for a playoff team, so it was similar to Minnesota this year.

Baltimore exposed our pitching pretty bad that year with 6.25 runs per game to win the division series 3-1.

Let this be a lesson to drinking and buying tickets online. The tickets I thought I bought for tonight’s game was for August 18th against the Royals! None the less here comes the season! Getting scalped tickets tonight. This series might determine the season!
This was your fault.

I think more so than anything was the Indians inability to beat a team with Bobby Bonilla in the lineup during that era.

Losing the Bieber start hurts, especially when the remaining matchups are Plutko vs. Stroman and Civale vs. Syndergaard

At least we avoid deGrom; he has a 1.00 ERA in his 7 post-ASB starts

Yes. And I would have been correct there too.
Sorry if that's weird for some of you to understand, but you take your profits when you can and cut your losses when you notice a down turn - in stocks it's called technical analysis. I guess it's my stock trading background, and not nostalgia laced fandom - I only root for the name on the front of the jersey. This team needs to operate as if it were the most shrewd hedge fund manager on wall street.

The Dodgers would have been correct to move on from the greatest pitcher of this generation? That's silly.

I was pro-trading Kluber in the off-season, and I'd still look to see what kind of haul we can get, but he's easily a positive contributor who would only increase our chances of playoff success.

Giolito has been an absolute stud for my fantasy team this year

He has a nasty change up. 95MHP fast ball , 80 MPH change up.

So for the ball to travel 60 feet from the mound to the plate, the elapsed time of the change up is .511 seconds, about .08 seconds slower than the fastball. For sense of reference the human reaction time to visual stimuli is around .25 seconds

If the bat speed peaks at 70mph at the sweet spot, the swing in its entirety takes .153 seconds and the bat is within a six inch long "hit zone" for about .005 seconds. That kind of differential means a player swinging at a fastball is entirely though the strike zone by the time a change up arrives. So next time you think hitting the ball is not hard...

I have been observing most of the Indians pitches are throwing a 93-95 MPH fastball and an 85-88 Mph change up. So that differential is 0.05 seconds.

You guys check my math, but if I am right its amazing anyone hits a goddam thing.

Just for fun a 100 MPH fast ball flies .41 seconds, so with a .25 reaction rate and a .154 swing you pretty much have to jump on it as soon as you see it. No room for error.

Idea we can say no too, but can someone start a general twins thread to update us on the current game, players who got hurt, etc. I don't think we need a million threads, and its not off topic talking about the Twins in almost Indians thread right now, but that info which is important to me could get lost in this thread.

Just an idea.

Next time someone updates Minny, or maybe a moderator can move some posts into its own Minny thread, thats all, or I guess I can start one for any future Minny updates.

Go ahead and start one. I'm still on vacation and on my phone, so moving them all isn't going to happen.

But a dedicated thread for the Twinkies is a good idea.
