Like I said, if Allen can make the shot at a 60% rate, go for it. I’m just not willing to bet on him being an elite midrange shooter.

I’d rather he stick to lobs and garbage points offensively.
 
I don't believe it's really anything beyond bad luck but with the obvious tanking moves going on in past couple weeks I doubt they win the lottery at all if the powers that be have anything to say about it. Teams who have tried to win and did not tank seem to have had better draft positions since the more balanced top pick odds were instilled for past two drafts. Being at 2nd worse got them far less than they needed dropping both years.

I think that's very realistic. He had one last night where somebody drove the baseline and shoveled it to Allen in the center of the lane. He had Ayton in front of him so he just took the 8-foot jumper and swished it.

Because of how often they're injured, you essentially need another decent PF who is capable of starting and playing big minutes. That's a lot of resources allocated to one position.

They will have a first round pick this year. They have to draft and pay somebody. Are you suggesting they NOT take a power forward because that would involve too much money at one position?

They may be able to get by with Nance, Love, and Wade next year, but unfortunately, Nance gets hurt a lot, Love is hurt a lot and isn't much of a player even when healthy at this point, and Wade flashed a little earlier in the season but looks like a 3-and-D guy without much of a 3 except for one game here and there.

Cleveland’s infrastructure does not lend him much help, between a lack of capable secondary decision-makers/ball-handlers and schematic counters. Too often, a single action opens the possession and that’s that. There are few follow-ups or second-side sets in case the defense neutralizes Plan A. As a result, Garland is tasked with creating something from nothing, an expectation too lofty for him at the moment, which negatively impacts his scoring efficiency.

Acquiring another decision-maker, someone who offense can flow through in one form or another, is necessary to maximize Garland and Collin Sexton.

Duh.

Hopefully that "capable secondary decision-maker/ball-handler" will arrive in this draft. Also, Okoro is showing signs of being a player who can score once Garland or Sexton "opens the possession" by breaking down the defense. But for Garland individually the curve is still going up.

Okoro was so efficient, the Cavs said he was the first Rookie to shoot that well and score 30 since Z in 98

Cavs have tried to win all year, if fully healthy the best they were going to hope for was probably a good shot at the play-in, just too much reliance on young guys. Injuries kind of forced their hands on full late season tank mode. But even with that, they seem to put there best foot forward, even if it's broken.

Now OKC and HOU: those guys are showing the league how this tanking shit is done. Jim Paxson and Sam Presti might blush!

One thing that has been missing is strong veteran leadership. It was pretty clear that Kevin was never going to fill that role. I think they may have missed the boat when trading for Drummond. It looked good as a flyer that extra cash can buy, but it might have cost us Tristan re-signing at a reasonable contract. I think TT was respected in the locker-room and could have helped with accountability. Maybe he was never going to re-sign.. not sure. but AD was a waste of a roster space for us even before we lucked into Allen.

Missed opportunity possibly. Going into next year, the Cavs need to start filling out the roster with vets who know their role and are basically pro's. You just can't win with every spot devoted to "player development". Choose your players to develop and compliment them correctly, otherwise this rebuilding cycle never ends.

65% is in no way realistic.

I don't want Allen to expand his offensive game at all. I just want him to get stronger, that's it.

The continuous asking players to expand their games is how you end up with Andre Drummond out there wasting his talents.

I just want Allen to be a star in his role. Catch lobs, rebound on both ends, and defend. Added strength will make him better at all three.

I'm not talking about expanding his game. I've seen him make that shot several times. I'm talking about him taking a very makeable shot more often.

What do you have against players expanding their games? Nance developed a much better 3-point shot and it's made him a more valuable player.
