All you can do is shake your head. The guy was really starting to play well.
One injury after another for this team.

Worth noting that Allen scores either from lobs (usually SexLand) or from the offensive glass. He’s not really an offensive option. Neither is Hartenstein although the man does have some passing skill. There’s not one player we can count on other than SexLand to consistently score. Wade has been exposed as a one dimensional player offensively, Love and Nance aren’t consistently healthy, Okoro is too raw, Prince is inconsistent and now done for the year, Windler has been a major disappointment, Delly can pass but can’t shoot, Cedi has imploded, and the rest are marginal NBA players at best.Kevin Love said this after the loss to the Hornets:
I need to find balance because a large majority of my shots are 3s right now, and that’s not always how I like to play. I’m almost fighting back on it a little bit. But I think we all understand as I continue to feel better, I’ll get in the post.
He's a one-dimensional player right now, pretty much a spot-up 3-point shooter who's only hitting 33.3% since returning. Larry Nance Jr is a one-dimensional player who gives you defense, a little rebounding, and not much else. He's averaging 6.0 ppg this month on 38% from the field after averaging 11.6 ppg on 49.5% in March. That "mystery illness" that put him out for over two weeks has really affected him.
Dean Wade has scored 11 points in his last five games and 89 minutes, taking only 14 shots. After he went 9-for-16 on 3-pointers over two games against Toronto and New Orleans teams have taken note and are now crowding him on the perimeter and not giving him the space to take his shot. Like Love he has no ability to make them pay by blowing by the defender as Garland and Sexton routinely do.
So the power forward position is something of a mess right now. Nance is clearly not himself after losing 20 pounds and being unable to get out of bed for five days. Love is still in the process of trying to get his legs back and "feel better". Wade is now being taken seriously as a 3-point shooter and opponents are no longer letting him have uncontested shots. He hasn't adjusted and I don't know if he can.
Okoro has also fallen off the map, failing to score in double figures in five of his last six games. He's only made 3 of his last 16 from deep.
Now Prince is done so the Cavs are hurting at both forward positions. The good news is center is coming on strong now that Allen seems to be back in the swing and Hartenstein is playing very effectively at both ends. I'm pretty excited about our two young centers.
Sexton and Garland are playing very well offensively. But those two forward positions are really killing the team offensively as Wade, Nance, and Okoro are contributing almost nothing and Love has become a spot-up shooter who isn't shooting very well. But as Nance continues to get stronger after his illness and Love gets his conditioning back I'm hoping for more out of those two. Love is 7-for-17 from deep the last two games after going 3-for-21 the previous three so maybe he's coming on.
Once he proved he could stroke from deep they took that away and so far he hasn't shown anything to counter. I'd like to see them work some two-man games where he sets a pick for Sexton or DG and then pops out for the return pass and the 3 when the guard gets doubled, which they will. The fall of Dean Wade since the Pelicans game is sad. The flight of Icarus it was.
Kevin Love took all his minutes. Kevin was afraid Dean was going to take his placeThe fall of Dean Wade since the Pelicans game is sad. The flight of Icarus it was.
If you’re not allowed to drive it how do you counter being only allowed to catch and shoot it?If the defense doesn't double, then CS or DG isolated on a big is good, too.
I dunno.
The team sucks but I think that's been obvious for a while.
I'm getting excited that even in their bad games Sexton and Garland produce. Im believing more and more that they can work longterm.
Id sure as hell rather this scenario where the youth are looking consistent but our vets freshly back from injury aren't up to speed. Better than vets winning games and the kids sucking.I feel like I’m watching different games from everyone. Garland is absolutely electric and it feels like he’s still just scratching the surface. Sexton is excelling off the ball. Okoro is exciting just based on the virtue of Garland/Sexton’s trajectories and the way the Cavs have shown they evaluate talent.
All of this, but they are still going to be well-positioned in the lottery for another piece they obviously need. This is basically best case scenario at this point of the year. The Charlotte game was tremendous in my mind.
This. Next year the kids should have a bigger voice and hold the vets accountable.Id sure as hell rather this scenario where the youth are looking consistent but our vets freshly back from injury aren't up to speed. Better than vets winning games and the kids sucking.
I hope they look like they are figuring it out in the last few games
