2020 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was thinking the same thing. OSU is tight lipped about releasing specific information. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Probably wont know until 10am tomorrow. Similar to the MSU game. They have one more round of testing this afternoon before departing for Indy.

I hope it's bullshit but there seems to be too much smoke for Olave to not be one of the guys who has it. I remember back when they had their 1st outbreak the week of the Illinois game and the name that got tossed around the most was Tuf Borland. And sure enough he was one of the guys who had it.

Not too concerned about NW game without Olave. It actually could have it's advantages as it will allow us to see more of guys like Fleming, JSN, and Jameson Williams who haven't got much PT thanks to lack of blowouts and well... games overall. However, would definitely need him for a CFB playoff game. The B1G needs to change that rule to 10 days which I'm pretty sure is what the ACC and SEC have.

No inside info, but I’d guess if OSu makes the cfp, the 21 day rule is lessened so that whoever tested positive this week can play

I really hope this is true. I know Gene Smith is pushing it, it would be a major competitive disadvantage if we had the Big Ten rules still in place for this while other teams would have less restrictive protocols.

If the CDC can change its guidelines, the Big Ten should be able to shift these rules a bit.

Sounds like quite the shit show.

17 seems a little random/arbitrary? So if a player tested positive on Monday of this week, they could suit up for the Jan. 1 playoff semifinal.

JFC, where did they even come up with 17?! Lol this conference, man...

Just make it 10-14 like everyone else. Stop trying to be cute.
Anything the Big Ten can do to harm its own institutions, it will do.

Conference is complete garbage at this point.

I know there are financial ramifications with going independent but I'd assume if OSU did that, some sort of Buckeye network could offset some of those costs.

From a football standpoint, we've been carrying the water for this league long enough. Great conference for basketball purposes but it has only hurt us on the field.

Yeah, I'm fucking sick of them. I'd love it if OSU football went independent so the Big Ten couldn't hold us back anymore. It would also be extremely satisfying watching them crumble into irrelevancy.

Won't happen because of the "Big Ten Academic Alliance" or old CIC that pulls in Billions of Research money. As much as we love our sports, they are a learning institution first.

Football is lucrative, but the landscape is always changing. If the playoffs open up to 8 teams that's more likely will help balance out some of the power in the conferences so that they aren't as top heavy. Just looking back in the past 10 years depending on the year and committee's guidelines we would've had a good shot of having 2 conference representatives. This year is just an anomaly all around.

My 93 year old Mother is in a nursing home and they use a 10 day quarantine period there. No reason a sports league can't.

Why would OSU football going independent remove them from the AAU?

Not AAU, but I could see other teams at least use the BTAA as a leverage point to keep them in conference for Football. Only way I see OSU leaving the BIG 10 would be if the top schools of the Power 5 conferences decide to create their own Super Conference with the best 8/16 teams more like a mini NFL. Don't see that happening anytime soon either.

I’d guess the 17 days would be because that would allow whoever tested positive this week to be back by Jan 1. I think B1G is actually changing a rule to help us.

Yeah, but why not just go a step further and make it 10 or 14? Just seems weird. But that's B1G leadership these days.

If it allows everyone to play, what’s the difference?

OSU is a game away for the cfp. They’ll likely be in the 2/3 game, which is the best they could’ve hoped for in a year when Alabama boat races the rest of the SEC.We’ll have a full compliment of players. Some of this is in part to the B1G changing rules in OSUs favor.

I don’t understand the hate for theB1G in this scenario. OSU is in as good a position as possible.
