It's not though. I wish it was, but this team is full of question marks.
Can Carrasco be a full-time starter again? And at what level?
Can Civale/Plesac/Plutko hold down the 4-5 spots over the course of a full season?
Which Jose will show up?
Who can you count on in critical situations in the pen aside from Hand?
Who the hell will produce in the outfield?
They could win 80 games, they could win 90+, but with so much up in the air I'm not sure I'd be willing to bet they will match or top last year's 93 wins.
Yes, production from individuals varies from year to year, but we haven’t downgraded a single position.
Maybe we’re arguing two different things. I’m not guaranteeing more wins, although I would bet on that. I’m saying we’re a better team than we were last year as a whole.
We have literally done nothing but upgrade.
We got nothing out of Kluber/Carrasco last year.
We couldn’t count on anybody outside of Hand in the pen last year, but have added Clase/Karinchak to the mix this year.
Our OF is in better shape than it was last year with a full year of Mercado and an increased role for Luplow.
I have no reason to believe Jose will be anything but great for us again. He seemed to figure out his balance issues late in the spring.
A full season of Plesac/Civale is better than the hodgepodge of guys we threw out there over the course of last year before those guys drake claim to those spots in the second half.
