2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What would it take? A Pederson/Luplow platoon would be god-damn incredible.

Not sure. They were giving up him and Stripling for a 22 year old middle infielder who posted a 1.6 WAR as a rookie, most of which came from his defense.

If it was Pederson by himself, who is almost assuredly a 1 year rental, I have to imagine it would be for a mid-tier prospect or 2. Shouldn't be too high.

I hope they jump on it. Adding Pederson could take this lineup to the next level.

Do you know if the Indians are interested in trading for him or does the impending Santana signing take them out of the running? (Not that it should in my opinion.)

Wait.. is there a possibility? Angels don't want him?
Angels backed out of the deal...

It appears that Ross Stripling is also on the block & available.. That seems to be the bigger loss for the Angels IMHO..
Ross is on the same time table as Clevinger regarding arbitration & free agency..
I wonder how many teams are falling over themselves trying to put a package together to get Ross & add him to their rotation..

Indians have talked with the Dodgers about Pederson in the past. Can imagine they might start those conversations again if the relationship is fractured and the Dodgers do have to move him (still think they'd be wise to keep him and platoon with Pollack, but that's just me personally).

But I mentioned in my wants for the off season a Corey Dickerson and Domingo Santana off season for the OF. There is certainly room for the 2 of them, and Pederson is superior, and now monetarily cheaper, than Dickerson. A solid lefty bat to go with Luplow and lotto ticket are exactly what this group needs in the OF, should the young guys they are betting on not perform like they need to.

Greatly appreciate the info, Bimbo. If we trade for Pederson, what happens to Naquin? I don’t see where he would fit if Santana is signed and is able to be productive.

Just personal opinion, but I think they need to move on from Naquin and trade him. With Zimmer healthy and Mercado a bigger piece of the future, I just don't see where he fits at all. Even more so if they bring in Santana to DH and put Reyes in the OF more.

The Pederson/Luplow platoon would be a nearly 6 WAR player.
Do whatever it takes to make this happen.
Shake up the couch cushions and schedule Aaron Bracho a physical in SoCal ASAP.

In 619 PA last year, Luplow vs lefties and Pederson vs righties:
.287 BA%
.367 OBP%
.631 SLG%
50 HR

I have no way to get their fWAR in platoon splits, but they combined for 5.2 fWAR this past season.

It did always seem like an unnecessary trade. Rengifo seems like a nice player and the Dodgers may lose Pederson for nothing after this season, but they're not exactly in the market for a major league ready 2B/SS considering they have Lux and Seager, as well as two super utility players.
