2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dude. It's January 14th. The Indians added a bullpen arm and the best free agent second baseman available.

Furthermore, neither of those teams' players are going anywhere. You think the Astros are magically not going to be a world series favorite because they lost a manager and a GM?
We made a pretty significant trade and signed our starting second baseman.

What more did you expect to have done midway through the off-season? Most of our roster is already locked in.

I must be living in an alternative universe here--I certainly don't dismiss that possibility--but salary dumping Kluber for Clase (very promising so far, but reliever success is difficult to project) and a slightly better Gregg Allen isn't exactly a "win-now" move. Hernandez is a solid addition and an upgrade over Kipnis, but if they don't add at least one quality MLB outfielder (Puig), then how can you call this offseason anything but underwhelming?

I think I would rather watch you have sex with my parents than that platoon.

On a different note, why are Cuban players always "defecting"? Seems like an intense term being used for baseball.

Can I watch your parents have sex?

If they’re Cuban defectors I’d be willing to pay in lira or whatever.

I wouldn’t put it past Kluber to have a bounce back season but the fact is he’s getting up there in age and his velocity has been regressing every year, he just had a major injury, and the few games he did play he was bad. The Indians won 93 games last year basically without him. Their starting pitching should be improved with Carrasco returning. Their bullpen should be improved with Clase and Karinchak. Their 2b position is improved. Their outfield depth is improved. I’d be happy if they signed Puig but even right now they should be contending in the Central. They were 21st in attendance last year and currently sit at 25th in payroll, 10 million behind the Tigers for 21st so I think they still have some cash to work with if they wanted to but they could be top 5 in payroll and fans still wouldn’t show up so what’s their incentive to spend?

Its always going to be underwhelming until this team has any tangible fan support to justify it.

That said, feels like a majority of the free agent class is still available at this point.

You must be, because I’ve been pleased with our off-season so far.

Like I said, most spots are locked in right now. They’ll probably give Luplow a chance at increased at bats this year. Mercado is a lock. Reyes and Bauers will likely get the lion’s share of time at an OF spot plus DH, and then you have Zimmer, Allen, Johnson, and hopefully Naquin at some point.

To my eye, there might be a spot for a platoon bat, but I also think it’s important to give some of these guys until at least the summer to prove themselves (Bauers, Zimmer, Allen).

You have to remember who we are bringing back. We essentially are bringing everyone back from a 93 win team plus a couple new additions already

I understand how you feel with the fact we haven’t done a ton, but honestly how much do you expect us to do with a limited budget and the fact we are bringing back a really good roster to begin with. I mean I get you wanted us to do more but your logic about what the team can do is not within reality to be honest so in that sense I guess you are living in an alternate world (maybe a console game world)

I don't think the Indians are done. Ozuna, Castellanos, Puig, D. Santana, Zobrist, Holt, Pillar still out there along with quite a few vet relievers. Bet they add at least one more bat and one or two relief arms before camp.

That lineup is stacked. Maybe it will push the Tribe to add an OF.
